SC has vastly superior recruiting/players compared to Memphis's recruiting (so does Ole Miss) but Fuente seems to get the most out of everybody on his team. Fuente had horrible talent on that Memphis team when he took over a losing program, in 3 years he made them a 10 win team b/c he was able to get some players in to help AND they learned his system. If he started off with higher quality players year 1, could we expect a more immediate return on investment in him?
I say no, but you should see steady growth up to 10+ wins at year 3. Here's why.
1. Its easy to get up for a big dog on your schedule, but can you do it week in and week out in the heart of SEC play?
2. New system, +/-new staff... need time for everything and one to gel.
3. He has to have a chance to get his system guys in place.
Now I think by year 3 maybe 4 he should be at a steady mainstay, given the upgrades from memphis to our school. Keep in mind the level of competition also increases as far as division and strength of schedule.

Could Fuente turn SC into a 10+ win team year 1, or will it take 3 years, like at Memphis?
I don't think it would happen year 1. Maybe 2 or 3

I think anything better than a 6-6 record in year one would be a stretch. Hell, Saban went 7-5 in year one at Alabama. McElwain at Florida is having a great year, but I still see them losing a few more games before the season is over. He inherited some really good talent, too.

Florida was also loaded with three straight top ten recruiting classes. I'm not saying someone won't come in and win 10 just that the situations are different.

That was my point. Our next coach won't have that luxury at all.

I missed your last sentence Sorry.

If it's Fuente or Herman, our currents players (at least first stringers)are more impressive then what they are currently working with.

The whole Rich Rod as target #2 speculation gives me an upset stomach.
Also, the comments of PAC 12 tards who are saying coming to Carolina and the SEC would be a demotion from the PAC 12 has me laughing so frickin' hard my stomach hurts even worse than from the Rich Rod rumors by themselves.

If for some ungodly reason Bitch Rod is announced as our HC I'm done with SC.
I'll be done with college football in general

While I think we should have guys higher on our board than Rich Rod, he's not a bad HC. He made every program he was at better than when he started. He didn't have a winning season at Mich until his last year, but also remember he just took over a program that lost to App State the year before he took over.

His age and his history of not staying anywhere very long are what bother me. I don't doubt his abilities as a HC, but are we going to hire another "older" coach?
What do you think about Rich Bisaccia openly stating he wants the job?

An UGA grad and homer projecting a fellow UGA grad to get an SEC HC gig?
I'm shocked. Shocked I tell ya.

i wouldnt put it outside of the realm of possibilities, Kirby has always enamored Ray. Which is why Vegas has him as the odds on favorite for the job. I know we all want Herman or Fuente but Kirby may very well be the guy Ray hires. So you attacking that comment is just crazy talk.
I know we all want Fuente, but if he falls through then I believe Kirby is the next best. He is a great recruiter and will be here for a while once he realizes the fan support, AD support and facilities. He will be able to recruit here and shove it to his alma mater for passing on him while he was a Pos coach.
Keep in mind this is all if Fuente passes on us, I for one do not want Herman. He seems like the guy who will jump ship once he gets a blue blood job no matter the job he has done here.

Careful what you say, Tip.
I recall distinctly being at Wings 'n Ale in Cola the night we did the "black out" against a Spurrier coached Florida team...and we all know how that turned out.
I loudly proclaimed that "If Spurrier ever becomes the Carolina head coach I'm done with Carolina ball."
I ate those words like an ethiopian at a buffet.

Rich Rod is only 52. He won't deal with the 'He's about to retire' schtick until he's 62 (like Saban and soon to be Les Miles.)
As far as Biaccia, he doesn't have the highlight reel that the other top candidates have. He may really want the job, and that's great that he's excited about it, but he isn't even in the Top5 candidates, IMO.

He took at team that lost to App St the year before he got there and had an improved his number of games won every year (3 years.) He recruited players for his system and when Hoke took over, Hoke won 11 games his 1st year with Rich's players. Then Hoke fell apart.

That loss at home to App St, combined with their aging HC killed their image and program. Rich was brought in to repair it and he was doing that.
