A&M fans are whistling past the graveyard.....They know it's coming....Chavis isn't a bad DC but when it gets to nut cutten time late in games you A&M fans better have plenty of Xanax on hand.
There have been many examples in this thread and UT and LSU fans could write a book. I've seen all too many of them up close and in person.

TDs are 7 points. A&M offense has averaged 10 more points per conference game over the past three years than the LSU offense. For some reason (coughcherrypickingcough), LSU fan decided to omit the 2012 season for both teams when he found the 6 pt differential in scoring.

Chavis inherited the DL at A&M, Chavis left LSU with no D Linemen And no linebackers! that fat lazy bastard, his lack of recruiting

Chavis somehow managed to make Major Applewhite look like an offensive genius. In spite of having two starting offensive linemen...including All-American center Antoine Caldwell...along with RB Glen Coffee suspended the morning of the 2007 Tennessee game, Applewhite took Chavis to the woodshed and beat the shite out of him..

I figured with 2 NFL caliber QBs. Starting in the same year, 2013, it was a fair comparison We all know JFF is fraud, but it was still a fair comparison.

So a QB draw by Matt Mauck nearly 15 years ago is the darkest depths of Chavis' tenure at Tennessee?
The fact that it continued in 2014 outlines darkest depths of his career.
13 years later
Dak ran for over 105 yards and 1 TD.
Marshall ran for 119 yards and 2 TDs.
Even Driskel ran 21 times for 71 yards and 1 TD.
Malik Zaire (Notre Dame) ran 22 times for 96 yards and 1 TD.
By the time those last two games came up (43 carries for 2 QBs) it was evident this was a strategy.
But Chavis really is a great coordinator. That just happens to be the weak spot in his scheme along with 3rd and long situations mostly late in tight games.

He's already stated the defensive line he has in College Station is better than what he had in Baton Rouge. I'm glad you're confirming there will be an Aggie defensive group better than their swamp kitten counterparts. Our linebackers still suck though.
Bud, he said the same type shite about position groups at LSU being better than groups he had at UT, groups that included guys like Albert Haybesworth and John Henderson. It's called coach speak

So you prefer the guy who gave you top 5 defenses to the guy who gave you top 10 defenses? OK. That's not unreasonable. But it's also not a knock on Chavis.
Where do you get that? Pelini finished #3 in Total Defense 3 straight years in a row "Nationally".

an 11.8 QBR but that's irrelevant"
Generally that stat is irrelevant. It is especially irrelevant when one plays tamu. An offensive linemen could run up and down the field on those soft-arse tsip wannabes.

Well, if you want to compare the offenses with the two QBs, lets look at the two years both played: 2012 and 2013.
LSU: 27.3 ppg
A&M: 38.8 ppg
That grows to a 11.5 point difference.

True, but he also finished #3, #4, #17 in scoring defense.I think I'm being fair calling that at "top 5 defense".

2001 UGA comes to mind... Not 3rd and Chavis per se, but up 4, we allowed David Greene to carve through our defense in the last 40 seconds of the game, going the length of the field for the game winning TD.

sounds familiar, some would say that is lack of discipline.

I've lost count on all the important games he lost us with that Prevent defense bull shite in the 4th quarter over the years. Honestly I think he has always been overrated as a coordinator. Chavis has been blessed with a ton of talent on Tennessee & LSU teams in the past years and under achieved imo.

Except when they've played each other.
