Exhibit A of the difference between what Harrison said and a similar comment that instead holds a racist connotation.

That can't be racist, as I didn't mean it in a racist way.

Isn't that what the kids are saying up in here? "It's not racist because he didn't MEAN it to be racist"?

No, it wasn't racist because it wasn't used in a racist context.

well seems you warmed up to the word fast.

You make an AWFUL lot of assumptions.

Did I ever say I didn't like the word? Did I ever say I didn't use it?

All I said was that it IS a racist slur.

I didn't even make a judgment call on being racist. I never even said I was or wasn't racist myself.

Hell, some of my best friends are racists.

I mean, do you? Do you really think he was racist by saying it towards a white Jewish kid? Something he could have and would have probably said about any of the black players on Wisconsin's team? Keep up the demeaning "kids" stuff to make you seem wiser on the subject, gramps. Maybe you'll get under someone skin's eventually

You'd think they'd be able to tell the difference. It shouldn't be this hard.

Tbird,, it just can't be used in different ways, it just can't. It's either ok, or not.

Doesn't this thread prove that???

when it's used in a racist context. An old black man telling a young black man he's a "lazy n***a" for not getting a job isn't racist no matter how bad you want it to be

Do you really think I really think that? I mean, nowhere have I said that. You're regressing, earlier you acknowledged the difference between a man being a racist and a word being a racial slur. Now you're back to conflating the two.

You need to study up on your Lenny Bruce.

Don't know who that is?

Probably because you're a kid.

Is calling another a guy poster on here a bitch the same as me going into say a convention for single mothers and calling one of them a bitch?

Even though the former would not be used in a sexist context while the latter is?

Ok,, I'll say again what I posted earlier. I'm sure they wouldn't have a problem with it, right?

I apologize for writing "he" instead of "it". Do you really think it was racist by saying it towards a white Jewish kid?

I really can't wait the next time a black athlete refers to a white athlete as a "n***a" but in a positive and complimentary context. Like "that n***a has a cannon" about a white QB. Or even "this n***a catches everything thrown his way" about a white receiver

Neither have racist undertones but I suspect you'll be there to assure me how wrong it is

Well I can't speak for how they'd feel but I personally wouldn't label you as a racist

You can refer to your white friends as your n***as and I still wouldn't label you a racist. But that's just me.

The word harrison used and the word you guys think he did are night and day as far as meaning and context

All you have done in this post is show what an ignorant person you really are. That word has no place in the world and trying to defend its use is ludicrous. It wasn't meant as racist but it is vile and ugly regardless. Maybe you work in a menial job where how you talk doesn't matter but if you ever want a "seat at the big boy/woman table" you CAN NEVER TALK LIKE THAT!
