Holy shite. Just because they are having trouble subduing the guy DOESN'T JUSTIFY KILLING HIM. He had a rock, not a gun. If the three of them can't chase him down and tackle him, they shouldn't be cops. The guy posed no threat to their lives, but they used their firearms anyway. If you can't see what's wrong with that from a bigger picture point of view, then I don't know what to say to you.
If people can't accept personal responsibility for their actions, like trying to purposely injure officers, I don't know what to tell you.
But of course they tried to subdue the guy with a taser and it didn't work. I've seen kids jacked up on drugs or having a psychotic break take multiple adults to restrain them. So a lot of broad assumptions being made here about what one or even three cops can do.

I get what you're saying, but using lethal force, especially when the perpetrator is 15 feet from you, should always be the last resort.

A rock to the temple could be deadly.. not always.. but... Did they know if he had any other weapons? Did he make any lethal threats while attacking, while running. Did he ever put his hands in his pockets as if attempting to get a weapon after the attack? Was he in a deranged state? Could he have been a threat to other people in public?
I'm not saying they were justified at all.. but making definitive statements before all the facts are out are asinine.. from both sides.

I agree but I don't feel like the cops shooting the guy was unjustified. He was trying to harm officers. If someone is trying to harm an officer then I think they have every right to defend themselves in a way they deem appropriate.

So if I walk up to someone in a bar and punch him square in the face, do I deserve to be shot dead in retaliation? I just intentionally tried to injure, right?

One or more of these will be the explanation from police at the end of their "investigation."

Yep. If that person feels like you are threatening their life, they should be able to retaliate how they deem fit.

You know you can kill a guy that way right?

And you don't sound biased at all.

If he is running away, then he is not attempting any harm at that point

So unless they come out and arrest the police officers you won't believe anything the investigation releases?

Absolutely.

Yes and no. Officers are trained to escalate force based on the threat to themselves and the public and to de-escalate when the situation is under control. Again.. a few seconds of video with no context for what happened before... can't give anyone a logical determination of if they were justified or not. An investigation should.

People don't turn while they're running to throw objects or shoot at people pursuing them?

I guess you missed the vid of the guy in Oklahoma a few weeks ago.. running and pulling a weapon.. dropping it, stopping to pick it back up and point as he continued to flee..

Wow. So it all depends on that person's feeling on the situation? Slipperiest of all slopes.

I've never hidden my bias towards cops. They have entirely too much power, and are given way too much leeway in these scenarios. Not to mention a lenghty history of covering up their misdeeds in their internal investigations.
There have been stories posted here where I supported the cops' actions 100%. This one doesn't look like one of those stories though.
