Will Tennessee have the chance to do it again though? At what point does it become a pipe dream and you go the way of Colorado?

Yep - but in addition the talent level had really dropped off. I don't know if it is better in the last few classes, but they had serious issues in a certain part of town that all but shut down a lot of kids that used to be big contributors from playing. They had some really bad seasons (for them, relatively, playing in East TN) the last few years but seem to be better this year.

The North Counties have been hit hard economically since the 90s boom time ended and outsourcing took everything away. It's sad to see a lot of the towns go the way they are going but there just aren't enough good jobs around and when that happens crime goes up and drugs take over. I hope something changes but I honestly don't see the good jobs coming back no matter what any politician says - it's too easy to get a billion Chinese people to do it for nothing.

Oh come the frick on.

Look, I get that, to most of the "old timers" that USC is a new addition and a relative geographic outpost. Those of you who have been for a game (particularly from the West), haven't been here in years, and even then, never set foot on campus.

What USC has done in terms of building not only top-flight facilities, but downright transforming campus over this past five years is nothing short of astounding. Miss State levels? That's beyond retarded.

I haven't been to a game since 2011 (but I've been on campus four times). And since then, I can name five major renovations/buildings for the athletic department/football program ALONE. That's neglecting the 10+ projects on the campus, and the baseball stadium. It also doesn't count the apron around the stadium to be completed this offseason, or the new indoor practice facility for next year, either.

I'm not going to argue that USC has the best facilities in the country. We don't. But if you don't think that we hold our own, you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

Yep - Kingsport is at the mercy of Eastman Chemical. Not a lot of intellectual capital up that way either, to say it nicely.

Nobody said USCe's new crop of facilities weren't very nice, the quote was about FUNDS.

Hell, did you watch the Spurrier doc the other night? He basically laid it all on the line. USCe is still catching up in that area. They've made huge strides, but you are crazy if you think the last 3 years of a few $1M+ gifts sets your football booster foundations up to the level of LSU, Alabama, A&M, Tennessee, etc.

Yea, they are in the lower tier of SEC programs in terms of funds and they just did this

They turned their 50,000 seat stadium into a 65,000 seat stadium.

Color me impressed.

We are head and shoulders above MSU. We are probably on the same level as UGA except our practice field is bigger.

UT has had more construction in the past 5 years than USC. We are in the middle of a 15 year renovation.

I've lived in or very near both places.

Columbia is 2 hours from the mountains, and two hours from the coast.

K-town is 45 mins from the mountains and 6 hours to the coast.

Columbia is hotter.

I'd call it a wash.

My bad, oversight.

But my point remains. At your best period in history, you've managed a single division title. At our worst period in history, we're still winning 5 games a year.

Not even a bowl game. Maybe it's the constructions fault Tennessee is so terrible?

Colorado was an interesting choice. It is not like they were ever that great. I would have gone with Georgia Tech or Nebraska personally.

There's a few reasons why tennessee is bad right now, and its not the construction. Were in the midst of one of the toughest rebuilding jobs in the country, and our schedule every year doesn't do us any favors. But we're on our way back, and to deny that is stupid. I mean, if were so terrible, why did we beat you last year?
