He threw 2 deep balls. One netted us 15 for p.i., the other hit Jones in the hands. Not to mention what he does with his legs stresses the D in a way no QB has here under Saban. We could win a championship with Blakesiah just the same as we did with either of the other guys, and that's by being a complete team. We never asked either of those QBs to go win us a championship with their arm.

Yep I'm not convinced in Blake's "ability to lead us to a championship" because this didn't look like a championship team against WVU. It has potential and could progress into one but they've got some work to do on offense and defense.

The PI was an generous call at best, and the other hit Jones in the hands because he ran under it and fielded it like the punt it was.

We agree to an extent. We could win a NC with Sims, but it's not going to be by being a complete team. It will be if the defense can carry the team in games where the opposing defense shuts down the run.

I'm not saying Blake Sims is terrible, or that we can't win with him. But there will be a lot more games that are iffy than we're accustomed to.

Look. I'm a Simms fan, but that ball was horrible. The only reason Jones had a chance at it was that the safety wasn't paying attention.

Another thing about the deep pass to CJ. On deep passes we like seeing the WR catch it in stride running toward the end zone. Well that just wasn't possible with any QB in this instance. This was more or less a scramble drill where the ball was thrown to a WR who was already 50 yards downfield as opposed to one thrown when the WR is 20 yards downfield then catching it in stride 50 yards downfield. Yes, there was a lot of air on the pass. I'd rather him put air on it when throwing to a wide open WR downfield then attempt to drill it thereby making it more difficult for the WR to make adjustments on it and make the catch.

Sims seems to be a better passer than McElroy and a better runner than McCarron. Bama won championships with both at the helm.

I think the talk about Coker is hyped up bc everyone said that the battle between he and Winston went down to the wire...so folks were/are hoping we would have a qb of similar caliber to Winston taking snaps, and they want to see what Bama could do with someone that talented back there.

Both of those QBs had elite defenses to support them. If you look around the SEC and you see offenses that are a lot more dynamic than they were in 2009 and 2011/2012. You've got to be able to produce points and make plays. The days of having a QB simply manage a game & stay of everyone's way are coming to an end IMO.

AJ won us games though. Without AJ, we lose to LSU in 2012, Georgia in 2012, A&M in 2013, and LSU in 2013 (his second quarter saved the game imo).

He did and that's why its silly for some to think QB play doesn't matter in our offense. AJ wasn't an elite QB but you couldn't really call him a game manager either.

Sims is better than Coker. If Coker was as good as advertised saban would have him starting now. Support sims.

You really think we could just trot out someone who is no better than a game manager and make/win the playoffs?

We'll just have to agree to disagree but my opinion isn't based on watching too much ESPN.

You don't have to have Cam Newton to win it all but I think you'll need someone better than John Parker Wilson.

last night, I marveled as B. Petrino had a backup OL come in as TE while he lined up his regular TE at wr.

The only thing I didn't like about Coker after Saturday was that every time the camera was on him, he was sitting on the bench, alone, not talking to anyone. I'd like to see him more hyped and in the game (even if he isn't playing)

After mulling it over and going back and watching several games from the past 3 years, I really want to see Coker in a few games particularly Florida.

The telling sign of Sims' ability and CNS faith in him as a QB was that he left him in the game. Had it been Spurrier Sims would have been on the bench. Did he miss some throws? Sure, but he had rhythm and eventually he had command. The only way Coker would have touched the field was if Sims threw 2 picks or we were up big. Honestly I think the situation would have been the same had we played Penn State in the 1st game a few years ago. I'm hoping to see Coker some as well, hopefully because we are up big though and not because Sims isn't doing well.

Well he almost pulled him, but Sims stepped up after that.

Well the reports from practice today on Coker weren't encouraging
