Maybe Auburn doesn't have the players that get drafted the highest, but in their specific offense they will clearly be the best. They rushed for 90 yards more per game than the next SEC team (I know that their scheme is different than everyone else's) and was completely dominant against almost every team they played. By the end of their season when Malzahn's offense was in full form it looked like nobody could stop it. Same thing Bama had in 2012. They may not have had the best individual players, but they were pushing the defense 3 yards back before a runner got touched on any play, and both squads could give their quarterbacks plenty of pass protection if they needed to. Line's are all about how well the 5 individuals work together in the scheme their team has in place, not the one or two individual stand outs (although those do help).

I can't envision any scenario where Wallace redshirted. Bielema is already saying he might be the best OL in high school that he has ever signed. That's pretty strong words from a guy that has put a lot of very good OL in the NFL during his time at Wisconsin. I just think he'll be too good to keep off the field personally.

Adding Jefferson at OG helps a ton. Wallace isn't going to beat out Skipper or Brey Cook. Even if he moves down to guard, he isn't beating out Denver Kirkland.
Do you realize how long its been since we signed a very very good prospect then talk about how they may struggle to beat out guys already in place on the line their freshman season?
Its a good thing, because BA couldn't with stand the concussions and still be a functional human like Wilson was able too.

Auburn will boast the 2nd best offensive line in the SEC, again.
Yep

It isn't like Auburn's O-line is asked to do much, learn 3 different run plays and 2 different pass plays.

If Wallace doesn't play, he will redshirt.
Who do you see him beating out at any spot on the line? Brey Cook?
Wallace isn't moving down to center. Tretola will end up taking that from Smothers by the end of fall camp.
You can't waste a redshirt on him for special teams. I think both Ragnow and Wallace get a redshirt year.

My guess is they try him out at LG first like Skipper last year. If not then I imagine he's first guy off the bench.

No shite most teams would that run the ball 80% of their plays

LG is sewn up. That's how we got the transfer from UNLV. He is and will be the starter.
Prior to the transfer, yes I would say there is no way Wallace red shirts. Now, we are good on depth and don't need to burn red shirts.

Our OL is "ehh", but we do have the best LT/best OLman in general, in Tunsil.

All good points. I'm pretty sure Bama's 2012 Oline did well in the draft, but I like to stick to college production when comparing college players.
Bama
Rush Yds/Game: 227.5
Sacks allowed: 23 in 13 games
A&M
Rush Yds/Game: 242.1
Sacks allowed: 23 in 13 games
I imagine that Manziel's ability to scramble outside the tackle box contributed to some of those rush stats, but you could make an argument for both being the best.

I was never sure if Obama's OLine was that good or their backs were that good ... either way, they were dominant.

Alabama's OL #8 in the country yet even Bama fans wouldn't put them in the Top 10.

6 of the top 12 are from the SEC. Phil loves him some SEC.

Only the B1G can compete when it comes to overall great OLines year-in and year-out.
It's all about the trenches in the SEC and what NFL scouts have to love about SEC OLines is the fact that they face great DLines week-in and week-out.
