Auburn had the best line last year, they will have the best line this year as well. A&M's, LSU's, Bama's, USC's, and Ole Miss' should all be pretty decent, but Auburn clearly has the best IMO.

I wouldn't say they have the best starts. They have the best 3 deep who could start anywhere else.

Pruitt won't be here this year. Had to take the JUCO route.

This is proving what I already reckoned ... when you throw-into-the-mix the RBs the league is going to field, it is going to be a brutal slugfest in the trenches this season. A fricking war every Saturday for conference games.

We might be about to witness a true back to smash-mouth year in the SEC.

QBs are going to have a lot of opportunities to excel given the running games on exhibit from the top half of the league.

Aside from CB, OG is the one position we'll still be sorting out during fall camp. I'll make a guess as to the two-deep, but it's nearly impossible to tell until OG is decided:

LT John Theus (Jr): Moving from right to left, started the previous two years.
#2: Probably Zach DeBell (Jr), but, practically, we would truly use Beard or Houston.

LG Brandon Kublanow (So): My odds on favorite to win the job. Got some meaningful PT late last year.
#2 Mark Beard (Sr): Started 2-3 games at LT in 2011. Has been the 6th-7th OL, utility guy, for 2 years basically.

C David Andrews (Sr.): Has started the previous two years
#2 Hunter Long (Jr): I'm almost positive some of these classes list on the official UGA website are wrong. Thought he was a RS Jr. Has logged a few meaningless minutes.

RG Greg Pyke (RS So): Unheralded former lacrosse player from MD.
#2 Watts Dantzler (Sr): Has logged some meaningless PT throughout his career.

RT Kolton Houston (Sr): We all know his story. Ended up starting 6 games last year I believe.
#2 Xzavier Ward (Jr): Another guy who I think redshirted (I think Long, Ward, Dantzler, and Beard all have but the site doesn't reflect that) and is a RS Jr. Always high praise when he is able to practice, but he has never been cleared to play. In reality, we would probably use Beard here as well.

It's important in the SEC.

Just to add to this. This statement really is true. Our staff was able to make do with a smaller, maybe quicker OL in the BIG 12. Thats philosophy has obviously changed. With Henson as the new OC and since the move you can see the shift in recruiting/recruiting priority to match the athleticism and size in the SEC on the OL.

Biggest difference I noticed right away in our first year in the conference was the play of the lines on both sides of the ball.

Nah.

Yall go on and take this preseason OL championship, like Tennessee did last year.

I have had my go arounds with scrooster but come on man, would you really rather have every thread be the same ole off season drivel or talk a little football here and there.

He has a bit of a point, though. UT had all that talent and experience returning on the OL last year and it didn't mean a damn thing. I think it was UGA who returned 100+ starts on the OL a year or two ago and the OL was the worst position on our team.

This is the 8th topic in the last three weeks about how all of SC's starters are returning on the offensive line.

Remember when UGA fans did the same thing coming into 2013 season? Every OL starter from that "5 seconds from a national championship" team were returning...

And it was Tenn and UGA fans during the offseason arguing about who's lines were going to be better because of all the depth and returning starters... both made good cases.

And both teams shite the bed in 2013.

I'm just mocking the conversation because I've been there and bought the T-Shirt.

This is what separates the SEC from everyone else, more so on the Dline.

Every other conference has as good/better QBs, RBs, WRs, DBs, and LBs. The SEC is above the rest on the Dline while equals at worst on the Olines.

Fair enough. I missed the other threads. Its always fun to try and glean some info on other teams for the upcoming season through all the static during the offseason here.

Wanst throwing barbs your way. I understand.

LT: Cedric Ogbuehi (RS Senior)
LG: Jarvis Harrison (RS Senior)
C: Mike Matthews (Junior)
RG: Garrett Gramling (RS Senior)
RT: Germain Ifedi (RS Sophomore)

Should be one of the top 5 lines in the country again with four future NFL draft picks. Junior Joseph Cheek might beat out Gramling in camp for the LG spot.
