True. LSU isn't far behind and Bama appears to boast a middle of the pack OL but one that should be very physical just like the 08 squad.

As I stated originally, I was sure there would be a half dozen better lines claimed in the league this season.

So, even though our coaches and fans believe the Gamecocks will have one of the finer OLines in the conference, if not the country, this season, I knew the SECr would knock us back down to reality and quickly put us in our place.

Thank you.

1 - Auburn .... naturally
2 - LSU .... of course
3 - Bama ... no surprise
4 - A&M ... super duper
5 - Ole Miss ... the west just dominates the world
6 - SCAR, Arkansas ... a tie. Glad the East could sneak one in there, appreciate it. Thanks men.

Kentucky:

LT: Darrian Miller (Sr) 6'5 292
LG: Zach West (rJr) 6'4 308 -or- Nick Haynes (rFr) 6'3 319
C: Jon Toth (rSo) 6'5 298
RG: Ramsey Meyers (rFr) 6'4 305
RT: Jordan Swindle (Jr) 6'7 304

Kentucky's OL should be quite a bit better than in '13. Miller and Swindle played pretty well in '13 minus a few false starts (Swindle) and missed assignments/miscommunications (Miller). Where Kentucky was really bad was at the interior line positions.

C Jon Toth had the flu just prior to the season and played all year at 270 lbs. He was also a rFr and struggled making the correct calls at the line. LGs West, Godby and whoever else was trotted out last year just flat out sucked. They were uniformly awful (see UT game allowing 5 sacks over the LG/C positions).

'14 should show an improvement at C and the OT positions for sure. LG is still a question, but Meyers at RG has been very very good so far.

I think that in '15, UK will have its best OL in a very, very long time. UK will return a Sr Swindle at LT (3rd year starting), rJr Toth at C (3rd year starting), Meyers at RG (2nd year starting), someone at LG (West/Haynes) with at least a year of starting experience. RT will be manned by either a rSo Kyle Meadows (6'5 293) or rFr Josh Krok (6'8 308).

Would like to see this "consensus." A&M had a great Oline that year for sure. But Bama's was the best in 2012.

I'm not sure what metric there is to use but if we are going NFL, it's very likely 3 of the 5 will be top 10 picks, 1 will most likely be a first rounder and the last got picked up as a FA.

Can Bama's line from '12 come even close to that?

Are you going to use offensive production? Johnny Manziel was the leading rusher in the SEC on the most productive team in SEC history playing one fewer game than Bama. More points, yards, etc.

One offensive lineman gives LSU the best offensive line?

Ok. Why will Auburn have the best offensive line?
Since you proclaimed it earlier in this thread.

I don't doubt they will be good, but LSU's depth and size compare with you guys easily. (Not saying LSU will have the best either).

Because they easily had the best OL last year and return 4/5 starters.

I see. So two 1,000 yard receivers, a 1,000 yard rusher, and a 3,000 yard passer all in the same season happened by itself ? And LSU also returns 4 of 5 starters.
But, as long as their's was EASILY the best. Ok.

Arkansas

OT: Dan Skipper(So. 6'10" 318) 8 starts
LG: Cameron Jefferson(Sr. 6'6" 305) 33 starts
C: Mitch Smothers(Jr. 6'5" 313) 8 starts
RG: Denver Kirkland(So. 6'5" 348) 8 starts
OT: Brey Cook(Sr. 6'7" 328) 18 starts

75 career starts as a unit. Line averages 322.4 pounds. Smothers as a starter now, but Tretola is expected to earn time at Center this fall. Lots of experience and lots of beef to lean on defensive lines and open holes for three very talented backs. Could work itself in to one of the leagues best offensive lines.

Reserves

C Luke Charpentier(Sr. 6'4" 320) 1 start
OT Grady Ollison(Jr. 6'5" 310) 5 starts
OT Marcus Danenhauer(Jr. 6'5" 316)
OG Cordale Boyd(So. 6'3" 300)
OG Reeve Koehler(RFr. 6'4" 340)
OT Austin Beck(Jr. 6'7" 305)
OG Chris Stringer(Sr. 6'7" 333)
OG Jonathan McClure(Sr. 6'4" 331)

Incoming

Brian Wallace(6'6" 305): #1 recruit in Missouri, #8 OT in nation according to 247. 4 star. Should redshirt, may be in two deep.

Frank Ragnow(6'6" 291): #3 recruit in Minnesota, #24 OT in nation. 4 star. May push for time at center, may be in two deep.

Sebastian Tretola(6'5" 315): #2 recruit in Iowa, #10 prospect out of JUCO. 4 star. Will push for starting time at center.

Adding Jefferson at OG helps a ton. Wallace isn't going to beat out Skipper or Brey Cook. Even if he moves down to guard, he isn't beating out Denver Kirkland.

doesn't matter how good your oline is if you can't hold onto the ball in a stiff dew.

Unfortunately we can't count on a stiff dew every year. I think the last time there was a stiff dew for an LSU at Auburn day game was 1971.
