I've neither seen a single person wear a UGA ring (outside of football purposes) nor do I recall ever receiving any notification from UGA concerning a class ring for either undergrad or grad school.

I literally didn't even know it was a thing until I opened this thread.

Maybe the culture is just different in SC, but my dad and all my uncles have worn their class rings since they graduated, and most of my friends I graduated with wear theirs

I still think its ridiculous that you weren't even familiar with the concept of a class ring in college before this thread though

The tailgating atmosphere looks pathetic?

Bought one, but I don't wear it. I've always seen older guys wear them tailgating, watching games, and at QB clubs. I think it's classy for someone who is proud of their university.

I've got one and I wear it. It's just like my father's and grandfather's. It could be cheesy, I don't care. They've worn theirs all my life so when my dad bought me one upon graduation, I wore it.

Same. My dad always wears his and I see them on other people on a regular basis. I have one, sometimes I wear it sometimes I don't. My finger is still not used to wearing a ring.

Yeah, it's super weird to wear something small that's been recognized by other Aggies in job interviews, countless business meetings I've had which forged relationships and set up channels to get deals done, as well as in travels around the world which has led to, aside from good conversations with fellow alums, a bunch of hook ups on where to go, what to do, etc.

Yeah, so weird, why would anyone want to take advantage of a network of influence that gets them preferential treatment?

I don't think you guys understand that we really do quite openly steer business and favors to other Aggies and that the ticket to that is often the ring.

I do, however, find it kinda odd that some folks are bothered by what another school's students and alumni choose to do.

Except the legions of people copying us is a sign of their true envy of all things Texas A&M. I see more and more than teasips and Sooners wearing their school rings every day. It's really cute.

I'll be in-zone for O-4 in the FY16 cycle. I'll be eligible next year, but they aren't taking anyone below zone in my designator (1830). My year group got pushed back an entire year due to "force shaping".

My O-4 board was supposed to be this year but got pushed back to next year . So I'll be in zone for FY15.

That is if I survive the great Hunger Games that Active Duty has become in the past 3 months. Got to love force shaping.

No on the class ring. I think it is a Texas thing and most of the schools out here do it.

I know a kid who goes to A&M Galveston(the Sea Aggies) and he is begging his parents to get him an A&M ring. I guess they're all just brainwashed into begging their parents to buy a class ring when they first attend? I would rather have a Rolex....
