A huge part of Kennion fighting for playing time has to do with the fact that we are badly under-manned in terms of edge-rushing defensive ends. You've got Lawson and Owens, and thats basically it. Lawson blows his knee out and Owens is battling infection, and there is your window for a project true freshman to potentially contribute. Even with Owens healthy you've basically got one guy. Its not hard to see why Kennion may play. They've got McKinzy taking snaps at DE too.
This is why I'm "arguing" this. We've got a big need for true pass-rushing DE's yet we've struck out on nearly every kid we were targeting early. It doesn't make sense.

Only we "Auburn Fans" could see what Gardner did last year with the DL and the recruits in he got in his first two season and be this concerned six months until signing day.

Are you asking me if I am really concerned about Garner and our recruiting?
I don't really get up or down over recruiting till LOI's are in.
I merely can understand why some may have concerns, and want to know what they would do differently than the staff.
eta: I personally think it is pointless to get overly excited on who commits or who isn't committing.

this thread right now. We've got both extreme ends of the spectrum in here. You're being a blind homer if you're blaming this on "not having enough time to build relationships". You're also panicking way too much by saying Garner sucks at recruiting.
Are we struggling recruiting on the DL right now? Undoubtedly yes in this class. But Garner has done great in the last two classes. We still have 7 months until signing day so I'm not going to worry yet

I dont think anyone is saying "Garner sucks at recruiting". We obviously know that's not the case. We are simply pointing out that this was a MAJOR need in this class, with what we are losing and or simply dont have on the DL, and up to this point, we have struck out in this class. Reality is, we have missed on all our top recruits at DT.

Some are saying that. Now whether they're just trolling or not is the question. Yes we've missed on all our top targets but most years you only get one or two of those any ways. We really need numbers in this class at DT. What's curious is we haven't seemed to have many mid level (what I consider a low 4 star) DT recruits. It was the big 5* targets and then Walker and that was it.

How have we missed? We don't have a single LOI. We once had a kid commit and get an Auburn tattoo and then sign with Bama. For the love of humanity we haven't missed, yet. Nor do we have the commits how have given verbal pledges.

We like discussing recruiting and we're talking about how things are looking.

I'm not panicking until January. Still have a long way for these kids to change minds and some others to show up out of nowhere. This time last year I had no idea who Braden Smith was and now he is the most talked about freshman in the class. I trust Garner especially after seeing the last 2 classes he has put together and the improvement we saw up front last season
