I was thinking the same thing earlier. But it's not just us. Shows you how starved we are for another National Title though.

I will say not every UGA fan in that thread bowed down to all that is Saban- though many did, which is embarrassing.
We just have a minority sect of the fanbase that is very vocal about wanting to degrade the program in order to achieve success. What they're failing to comprehend is that we can win a NC, and still keep our dignity. It just takes time.

Not with CMR and Co we cant

We should sticky a topic about whether or not CMR can win us a championship.

Now we have a thread talking about a thread that makes us look stupid.
So..in the BCS era 11 teams have a NCS. I personally think only two years in that era did we have a team that should have won a title... 2002 and 2012.
In 2002, we would have beat Ohio State.
In 2012, we had our chance.

UGA lost to 8-5 UF and ohio stAte beat one of the most talented teams in collegiate football history but you think we got it in the bag? Bold.

And yet Chip Kelly has been hailed as the most forward thinking coaches in college football before he went NFL. And most people felt he would win one....and yet, he did not. Granted he was head coach for only 4 years, but most on here say that would be plenty of time in todays game. And yet....most of us agree that Oregon is no closer than they have been in past years. They have an overrated team in an overrated conference that inflates their win totals against inferior competition.
For gosh sakes...Bob Stoops and Mac Brown have won National Championships! I still wouldn't want them here.

Oregon has been in the national title talk for the last several years. They are more legit than us. Winning the mnc is hard and many coaches can't do it, but what's the excuse for the lack of conference titles? 8 years since we won the conference.

Who came closer last year? Oregon or Georgia? And we want to fire our coach.
In 2011, Oregon lost to LSU 40-27, the same team that beat georgia for the SECC 42-10...not much difference there, is there?
In 2010 they lost the NC to Auburn.
In 2009, they lost three games.
So, why do many think Kelly can get the job done? Because he has come close? Richt gets Georgia close and everybody says he has maxed out and can't get Georgia there. Kelly gets a pass.
Hey, I understand. Typically younger fans are fans of wide open offenses that score a lot of points. I used to, too. Kelly brings that to the table. But rarely do championship teams do that. Championship teams usually play good solid defense (something we have not done this year) and play mistake free football. (Something else we have not done this year)
I know, and acknowledge our problems. I am just saying that over the last three years or so, our team has steadily improved. Had we stayed healthy this year we would have one loss (and that easily could have been a victory) and be in the chase for a national Championship.
Again...I have no problem with peoples impatience. I understand that. I am impatient, too. but, as you pointed out, it is very difficult to win a NC. 8 years since we won a conference title? Wow. So, what you are saying is we have lost the conference title to that years National Championship team, right?

I'm not impatient and I'm not a younger fan. I turn 32 in a few months. 8 seasons is a long time not to win the conference.

This. The BCS era is coming to an end and in spite of elite recruiting grounds in the state of Georgia, UGA will go down in history as the only member of the Big 6 in the SEC without a National Championship. Alabama, Florida, LSU, Auburn and Tennessee have each won 1 or more BCS Championships. Small wonder some Georgia fans are envious of a coach/football program at Alabama who have won 3 of the last 4 National Championships.
