We do still rule the world. That's why lesser groups like Aggy can't stop talking about us.

According to Forbes, Texas' football program made $78m in profit in 2012. That's not gross revenue, that's net revenue.

I think they can afford to get anybody they want.

Then why the hell have they let ole butter teeth run that program into the shithole?

They've got the resources to get ANYBODY they want to coach their team. Why let Mack hang on this long and not produce a damn thing?

I really like the "Jesus Shuttleworth's credibility remains unquestioned." That guy has his "Big Cigar" conversations that just throws out all kinds of crap at the wall, usually very vague, and rarely comes to pass. It's all about the inherent greatness of Texas and how they still rule the world.

and the article also stated that he "was the first to report on the Saban meeting with Texas regents nine months ago." Then commenters started asking "what meeting" and they promptly deleted it but Google remembers

Because they've been waiting for Saban to get ready

I'll preface this by saying I don't think he's going anywhere, but....

The LHN is one reason I think it's possible. It has been a failure and led to the downfall of a once great conference with a lot of old money floating around (T. Boone, etc.)

Saban has a bit of an ego with a touch of narcissism. He cozys to the camera when he is in control of what is being said. I believe ESPN has a vested interest in the future direction of UTexas.

Saban is going to make his 8mil a year wherever he's at. But, that income is finite. If he were somehow able to barter a deal for a fraction of the network, everybody wins. Saban wins, school wins, conference wins, and mostly, the Network wins.

Saban needed a couple of years in Miami financially. He didn't leave BR well off. I may be way off here, but it's the only reason I can see him starting over, because he has definitely chilled out in regards to staff and everyone around him.

Oh, and the old white men boosters would be kissing Saban's arse collectively.

Now that's a new perspective I haven't heard before. You think they give the head coach a portion of the Longhorn Network?

I remember folks talking about a certain NFL team would give Saban part of the franchise if he'd move his arse up north and coach the team. How'd that turn out?

Been a long wait - while butter teeth ran a once proud program into the manure heap.

Watching Alabama burn to the ground with finebaum and harvey updyke will be the greatest thing of all time.

I believe you believe that, and it makes me a bit sad for you.

HAHAHA! Just kidding! It makes me laugh at you!

Well, occasionally I think outside the box, but I would think it will take more than just his salary.

And, BTW, he doesn't like dealing with transitions at the QB position, either. So, if it were going to occur, the timing might be right.

I don't want to see him leave. I like this matchup every year. And I definitely don't want to see him go to Texas. We would probably start to lose more significant players to him over there.

Saban at Texas would still put AM right back where they were 5 years ago.

I don't claim to be an "insider". I claim that I have access to insider information. But let me add this - I admit to coming to this board primarily to joust with the Aggies. Its been give and take and I understand all that crap. We've been trying to "one-up" each other for over 100 years.

But I don't just makeup stuff to be a troll. I have no interest in that. I posted some stuff without linking my source last January and it proved to be true (regarding Saban). You have to decide if I'm sincere or not. College football fans are passionate about their favorite teams. And message boards are a convenient way to vent frustrations, express anger, and downright insult fans of other schools. I don't play that game with something like this. If I post anything that is untrue about this Saban deal, its because I've been given bad information. I'm not making up stuff on the fly. If you want to dismiss my posts as garbage that is fine with me. We are all anonymous here. Nobody gets hurt.

I know I'd be disappointed but not as butthurt as LSU fans. He's won 3 NCs and has us in the running for a 4th this year.
It'd suck but eventually he'll move on, retire, or die. One of those 3 must come true at some point or another.

Would you be butthurt if in two years after going to Texas he came back to coach Auburn or Tennessee?

Why would Saban want to waste 3 or 4 of the ~8 years he has left rebuilding the most overrated college football program of all time?

I don't think Saban leaves Bama at all but some of the reasons given for not going to Texas are not accurate.

The old money boosters are not what they once were at Texas. As long as he played nice with about 10 guys and gave them access this is a non issue.

LHN has already said they would be fine with one hour of air time a week with a new coach. So the argument about hours of tv time a week is a non issue.

It is easier to win at Texas if you recruit the right players. Texas is a shite storm and still in the running for big 12 champs because they beat one team oklahoma.

The top recruits in the state want to come to Texas but Mack has missed on to many of them. If a proper talent evaluator recruited the state they could be right back in the hunt right away. There have been tons of guys recently who wanted to come play at Texas but Mack passed on them.

Hell even if they fired their strength and conditions guy Mad Dog tomm they would be a better team. They don't do what it takes in the weight room to be the best. Saban would fix that right away.

money, money, money. Texas has plenty to give him whatever he needs staff wise, facility wise, and salary.

No longer have to deal with a head up the butt, old futty duddy of an ad since Deloss is being forced out.

And Austin is a much better place to enjoy life and live then Bama.

I have absolutely no doubt Wallace Hall has been running around since January saying he contacted Saban's agent and that he did. It's one of the reasons Hall is about to be the first Texas regent ever impeached.
