The proximity is irrelevant. But Archie and Deuce make sense.

Nothing more annoying than all of the bandwagon Faux-Saints fans around here. Bunch of people never been to New Orleans saying "Who dat?". Probably don't even know what the saying means. But that's what success brings..

If you looked at who I was posting to, the proximity is very relevant. You're trying to tell me someone 500 miles from a major sports market is equally as likely to be a fan as someone from a major sports market 70 miles away?

Huge Saints fan here.. have been all of my life.
Why? My dad is a huge Saints fan and has been his entire life.
Historically bad.. yep. I'm also a Rebel
In the early 00s, we had like 3 winning seasons in a row followed by a 3-13 year (maybe 2004 or 2005). I had people asking me all year 'whats wrong with your Saints this year?' My response.... 'Not a thing, I want to know what was wrong with them the last 3 damn years.'

They're shite for sure. However, once you jump on a team, stick with it.
It's easy to pick the Lakers as your team if there's not a team around. However, if a Lakers fan switches down the line, they suck. I don't care what they say about a disagreement with management leading them to another team.
You're either bred into fandom, or you choose it. If you choose it and you switch when times get tough, you're a scumbag. That is all.
I swear, the first bandwagon Cub fan I meet after the world championship, I'm going to break his kneecap.

I became a half-hearted Saints fan the first time I was stationed in New Orleans, and really started pulling for them the second time I was stationed there. Drafting Roman Harper and Mark Ingram cemented my NFL team loyalty - which does not begin to compare to my collegiate loyalty. I attended the first post-Katrina game in the dome (versus the Falcons), and must say that was one of the most emotionally charged football games I have ever attended. The New Orleans folks needed football at that point, and it was awesome to watch that season play out.

Very very true. I for one like the Devil Rays because I had a friend who was drafted there in, I think, 2002?
Though I don't follow it enough to call myself a real fan. But I own a hat.
