I wouldn't want him at this point. No offense to him, he could turn out good, but he doesn't have HC experience yet. I also would have to see how he cares about the defense. This isn't the NFL, defense still wins championships.
Meh. LSU can afford a top flight DC, and keep in-state defensive talent. Kliff would have awesome success in South Louisiana.

Everyone but Merlins and Muschump

Verry possible, but I still need to see something from him. Besides since I like Tech, I would like for him to do well there and stay.

I mean I think he plans on building something at Texas Tech, and he loves it, but as far as personality types, I feel like LSU needs a guy with something "different". I don't mean that negatively. I love Les Miles, and I love his goofiness. Kliff isn't as goofy, but he is definitely of a different mold than your figurehead type guy. Something I would love to see at LSU when Miles retires.

I don't take it as a jab. I agree, I think Miles' quirkiness makes him the perfect coach in this state. We aren't like the rest of this country, and that's what makes LA great.

100% right
We are a strange breed. Which I love about us. I'm not just talking LSU football fans. I'm talking just people in this state. That has its goods and bads but I wouldn't change it at all
And les IMO gets us better than any coach has in a good long time

Agreed. Louisiana ain't a bad neighbor to the greatest State in the Union, either.

100% agree. There is no place like New Orleans and LA, I wouldn't want to live elsewhere. Sure we have our problems, but every place has some. There is always something to do down here

I've never heard anyone say that about MS.

So if Saban and Alabama is the benchmark, why isn't Sumlin's perfect record against the Tide taken in to consideration?
In fact, it's a very short list of those enjoying a winning record over Miles.

Certainly can't argue LSU's success, as the OP pointed out. Petrino was great for Arkansas, as well, imo. I don't know if either team would've had the same results had the coaches been swapped, but sometimes, considering the depth & talent LSU has had in the past several years, in almost every key position (minus QB), I believe they would do alright with no head coach.

LSU does not recruit better than Bama, Florida, Georgia, or Auburn and Tennessee. Les gets kids who are academically qualified. LSU graduates more football players than any other SEC team except Vandy.
You obviously know very little about coaching football. Petrino won nothing at Arky while having the weakest OOC schedule in SEC. Les has held his own with Saban and Meyer. Going by success on the field, Les has done quite well.
I think every SEC school is happy with their coach.I wish I knew as much football as any of the SEC coaches.

Who is on that list? Saban, and what maybe Stoops and Mack Brown from his days at OSU.
I guess Dabo too, and Paterno, depending on how you count that.

LSU does, however, recruit better than Arkansas, and most likely will for the foreseeable future. Therefore, with what Petrino had to work with, and in the short amount of time he was there, he was very good for Arkansas. You obviously know very little about Arkansas football, which is what I am keeping my argument limited to, per the OP's original question.
I'll just leave my previous statements on the subject right here, as a reminder.
Oh, and learn how to take a compliment.

I'm not arguing Miles at LSU. If y'all are happy, great & good luck to you except against the Hogs. My opinion is based on the premise of Miles at Arkansas.

Obviously, Miles has been a good fit for LSU. If players play, and team wins, great. I just don't know about the results Miles would have at Arkansas.
