Is Dan Mullen the most underachieving coach in the nation?

I know the man coaches a team in the hardest conference (SEC WEST (yes you just read that right)) but it seems he is very underachieving. At State, he is 7-22 I believe against teams with winning records and haven't beaten a SEC team that finished with a winning record since Florida in 2010.
With all the hype when he came to State and their fans dreaming of a chance in the big show one day, is Dan Mullen the most underachieving coach in the nation?

I'd say Lane Kiffin is worse but what do I know

Seems to be achieving about right where I would expect based on MSU's program and history. Maybe even over achieving a tiny bit.

You can't start a thread about a school in Mississippi that isn't Ole Miss.

He is the winningest State coach after 4 seasons since the 1940's and only the 2nd with a winning record after 4 seasons
You need to remember- those teams with the losing records used to beat State

this doesn't say much.
They crowned Jackie Sherril as the winning-est coach in MSU history with a record of 75-75-1.

So your saying when Mullen stepped on campus, you were expecting him in 4 years to be only 29-22 and with a losing record in the SEC?

Underachieving? What exactly did you expect him to achieve at this date and time in the SEC west?
He's 8-3 against the SEC east... and he's broken down a bunch of negative streaks at MSU. There are 2 remaining -- the LSU streak and winning in the state of Arkansas.
We are not and never will be disappointed with the RESULTS of this year. We were disappointed with the gutless effort of the team down the stretch. We don't expect to win every game, but we damn sure do expect to be the most physical team on the schedule that plays with as much heart as anyone. We didn't see it at the end of the LSU game last year, and we didn't see it the last 6 games this year. THAT is how you get run out of MSU -- you certainly don't by going 29-22.

One man's trash is another man's treasure, I suppose.

I went to his final game in Starkville. Egg Bowl 2003. They had a big, tear-filled ceremony at mid-field before the game and then Eli Manning proceeded to take gigantic shits all over his day.....solidifying his .500 overall record at MSU.

That's the difference between God's gift to football aka LSU and other schools is that you expect a MNC every year and the rest of us are satisfied with a .500 record.

No. He's at a little brother school in Mississippi. Enough said.

I'd say he's the most overachieving coach in the nation. It's fricking State bro, it's supposed to be impossible to win there.

We "crowned" Jackie with a record of 67-48-2 -- coming off 4 years @ 33-14

Thank you for sharing this with us all. We are all better people now for knowing this.
