Only because Sherrill's Bulldogs tanked it in 1993. Sherrill actually won the SEC West, if I'm not mistaken, in 1998. Pretty damn good accomplishment at MSU.

Of course, Mullen's SEC West is a lot more difficult than Sherrill's SEC West was.

We "crowned" Jackie with a record of 67-48-2 -- coming off 4 years @ 33-14

Spin it how you want but he finished MSU with a record of 75-75-1.

That's like me saying Nutt was a 18-8 coach at Ole Miss.

You are the one talking about "crowning" -- and I cleared that up for you. NO ONE was "crowning" him shite in 2003...

At least he won the West. When is the last time Ole Miss won the West? 1963? And please spare me any BS about 2003.

You guys were the ones giving him standing ovations and honoring him at midfield last game.

Like I said....spin it how you want but it was MSU and its fans that were crowing him that day. The PA announcer even labeled him as the winning-est coach in MSU history.

Not sure why you guys are getting so pissy about this.

Let me put it this way: Ole Miss has never played in Atlanta, while Mississippi State has.

Take that with ya.

-won the west
-only SEC team in MS in 50 years to only lose 2 games in a season
-highest ranked MS team in 40+ years
-best 3 and 4 year runs in ms in 40+ years

Trying to demean everything else he accomplished at MSU by pointing to a final record tarnished by a 3+year NCAA investigation that eventually found a bought set of tires, a paid for summer class, and a couple of comped hotel rooms is hilarious to me -- led by an NCAA investigator that was sleeping with a bigtime OM booster.

Sherrill is our winningest coach. We appreciate what he did for us. But there was NO ONE still wanting him to stick around in 2003.

Jackie eve set the table for the next coach to come in and be successful -- leaving them(at least) 2 top 20 recruiting classes. Instead of hiring Gary Patterson or Jimbo Fisher, who both were very interested at the time, our idiot AD went out and got Sylvester Croom -- who kicked practically all of Jackie's talent off the team in his first 18 months on the job for little to no reason. 35 players gone in the first 18 months -- and that was before the actual probation hit...

Khayat still has that NCAA LOI on his desk. Been there since the late 90's.

1) Lame comeback. Also, I have no dog in the fight so don't congratulate me.

2) They were 8-3 and 6-2 in the SEC before losing to the eventual national champions. So even your lame attempt at a comeback is basically wrong.
