It is appears that today is Ole Miss Appreciation Day. As such, I am precluded from saying nice things about Jackie Sherrill.

Should be noted that Johanningmeier "resigned" his post at the NCAA before the official ruling came down on MSU.

those are your links?

One just noting that Sherril is blaming it on the OM Booster(with no actual proof) and another made on a free blog by an MSU fan?

Please....continue. You're providing better arguments against yourself than we could ever imagine.

So Jackie Sherril was ranked in the top 5?

Damn...news to me.

Ole Miss was?

Not talking about a given single early-season weekly ranking you can find, dumbass.

In that scenario, BOTH Jackie Sherrill and Dan Mullen are both superior to ANY of your 2003 "return to glory", 2008, and 2009 seasons. We've had the 8? 10? highest BCS rankings in MS in the history of that system.

He's 8-3 against the SEC east... and he's broken down a bunch of negative streaks at MSU. There are 2 remaining -- the LSU streak and winning in the state of Arkansas.

Really? So he has no losing streak against any other SECW team?

He's got proof.

He messed up by forming a single lawsuit instead of going after Gibert separately. The NCAA has kept it tied up in litigation all this time, most recently over releasing his personal health records, while he's got her arse dead to rights...

First link contains nothing besides speculation. Second won't even open.

Nothing ever came of any of this. Sherrill is a known scumbag anyway.

Being ranked in the top 5 midseason is still being ranked in the top 5. You can't pick and choose the arguments you want.

Did I just stumble upon Genespage?

Jackie didn't have shite....just like MSU fans never have the shite they claim to have about Ole Miss.

The sooner you realize this, the sooner you can move on.

I know the man coaches a team in the hardest conference (SEC WEST (yes you just read that right)) but it seems he is very underachieving. At State, he is 7-22 I believe against teams with winning records and haven't beaten a SEC team that finished with a winning record since Florida in 2010.

Keep in mind that Mullen hasn't faced many 'middlin' SEC teams with 7-5/8-4 records. Nearly all of them have been Top 15 or better.

2009 was his first year after Croom. State had the toughest overall schedule in the nation. Lost to a top LSU team by 2 yards. Beat a 9-win Ole Miss team. Beat a 7-6 Kentucky team that had gone 3-5 in the SEC. Also beat a 10-3 MTSU team, so Mullen had 3 wins over FBS teams with a winning record in his first year. Two more than Freeze.

In 2010 Mullen beat everyone but the Top 15 SEC West teams he faced. He beat an 8-win Florida team in the Swamp and a UGA team that went 3-5 in the SEC.

In 2011 State faced 11-win USC and 10-win UGA from the East, plus very good Bama/LSU/Ark. Auburn was a middlin SEC team that year, and State lost there by less than a foot.

This year State faced Auburn and Arkansas plus two East teams with losing records. Beat all four. The only 'middlin' SEC team State faced was 7-6 (3-5) Ole Miss. Lost away.

Bottom line is that the sample size is still too small to conclude anything with a limited restriction like "SEC team with a winning record". All of the losses to middlin SEC teams have been away games, which are always tougher.

Otherwise, it's simply ignorant if you're going to malign Mullen for losing to Top 15 teams in his first four years as a head coach at Mississippi State.

Week 3 is midseason?

END OF SEASON RANKINGS...The ones that actually matter. Funny, that was clear to everyone but you.

Still funny that this year's MSU team was better than any OM has had in the history of the BCS by Pank's logic...

Poor pup....trying to grasp at whatever straws you can to make up for MSU's shortcomings.

It's funny. MSU fans love to talk about how they beat a "ranked" florida team in the swamp back in 2010.

The same Florida team which finished unranked in every poll.

Just a'pickin and a'choosin.
