Link? You are in the SEC. You get SEC attention

You're right, every SEC school has travel and cultural writeups in the New York Times, the Washington Post, and the Wall Street Journal. They all do. It's just an SEC thing, right?

If it were a matter of SEC attention, then every other SEC school could be able to boast what I just linked, including you.

Most of them can't, and you certainly can't. People fricking love us. Deal with it.

We got more positive media attention for the single Loyola basketball game commemorating Game of Change than you can show me total from Ole Miss this year.

Define "positive" and define "more." Once a-fricking-gain engie you set the standards so vaguely that they can apply any which way you want it to. You're really bad at that.

quote:

Link me to this happening in the past 12 + months... if you can? That's what I thought.

Why do you keep moving the goalposts? I gave you examples of Dan Mullen being an obsessive dickweed and all you did was say "well he hasn't done it recently lol!!1!!" as if that somehow means anything.

Here's something describing this year's freshman class as the second-largest in the history of the state. I'm not sure what's first or what 2011's numbers were.

LINK

My point is that your "student gap" argument is dumb.

quote:

Where did I claim it was linear?

Your entire damn argument (taking the past few years and using that as a model to project the future) relies on the assumption that these changes are both constant and consistent, therefore linear.

quote:

I simply said that we've outpaced you for 8 years in a row on "percent growth"(even provided links proving it) -- by an average of 5-8%/yr. "Probably not"? Give me some -- ANY -- reason to think otherwise...based on every bit of empirical data we have at our disposal?

I wasn't disputing that, engie. This is what you don't get.

Your argument is simple: State is growing and improving in a way that Ole Miss cannot or will not be able to match. Essentially, "SCHTAYYTE SCTACKED AND OLD PISS frickT!!!1" My argument is that such a belief is ridiculous.

quote:

Either we are contributing more money to our endowment funds every single year than you are -- or we have been superior investors every single year that I can find. Which conclusion do you prefer?

Superior investors perhaps? If investing in less volatile assets makes one "better" then have at it. Also, where have I disputed that State hasn't done a good job of raising money? I have said as much several times. Why you somehow still haven't seen that I don't know.

Definitely more than once.

All the killers/bigots in Straw Dogs are Ole Miss fans too -- even flew the flag from their truck. Guess that should be mentioned as well in this pop culture debate.

Sure, have at it.

You do realize OM is a journalism school? I would imagine a large majority of the press you get is initiated by IM contacts just trying to advertise their school. I am sure we would have a lot of press if we were a journalism school too.

Yeah, it's a fricking conspiracy.

And therein lies the problem.

Again, ask yourself what you're trying to prove.

ETA: Basically, engie is trying to convince us that Ole Miss' prospects for the future aren't good. I ain't buying it.

Wow, you sure are setting the bar high for us. However it is only a 12 game regular season with a possibility of playing 2 extra games (SECCG BCSCG/Bowl games) so the maximum we could win is 14 games. But thanks for the vote of confidence anyway.

I'm going to be honest, I laughed.

Maybe I'm sleep-deprived or something.

Redefine them then. You can't. We're kicking your arse monetarily and have been for awhile. We will match your endowment in the next 4-5 years. Deal with it.

That was my original parameters, jackass! You really need to learn to read. "This guy just constantly puts down Ole Miss" -- Oh really? Well show me. But it doesn't fit your agenda, does it?

And my argument is that for 8 years now(at least), we've dominated you financially. 4 more years at the same pace and our endowments are equal.

But of course, Olllllll MIsssss gonna fix this!!11!1 Can't be having rich leghumpers!!1!

How can the leghumpers at the cow college be superior investors to the rich folks in Oxford? Shirley you jest.

"Less volatile"? Seriously? Less volatility = smaller risk, smaller reward. If this was true, it would mean State was invested in more volatile assets, correct? Then how do you explain us taking 15% LESS of a hit when the market crashed? Surely you aren't implying that we are THAT MUCH better investors than you are?

What I was trying to prove is simple -- Mississippi State is going to dominate you in the financial future. DWI. Doesn't mean that your prospects for the future aren't good. They just aren't as good as ours.

This is all grand except for the fact that the UMAA isn't part of the University and therefore isn't subject to release their numbers. So you actually have diddly-dick idea about what money we have.

.....but continue on.

ETA: as well as the QB Club and Touchdown Club(even though I don't remember that one.)

It's your argument engie. You provide the definitions. You still haven't done that.

That was my original parameters, jackass!

They weren't mine, moron. YOU changed them and then had the audacity to call it YOUR original parameters.

I literally didn't even click on it. I hovered the link, saw "makeitrainsports" and left it at that.

It's not something that's credible or can be taken seriously. Period. Find an actual media outlet that's reporting that story and I'll read it.

Define "dominated." And, like I said, your methods are flawed. But go ahead and bookmark this and, if you're right in four years, bump it. If I'm still frickin' around on the rant I'll tell you that you're right.

quote:

But of course, Olllllll MIsssss gonna fix this!!11!1 Can't be having rich leghumpers!!1!

Your assumption is that we a) give a shite and b) think something needs to be fixed.

Ole Miss is heading in a positive direction. I'm pleased with the future of the school. You're trying to spoil that and failing at it.

quote:

How can the leghumpers at the cow college be superior investors to the rich folks in Oxford? Shirley you jest.

More strawmen! You're not clever or funny. You're lame as frick.

How do you explain it? Good fundraising? The very thing that I've conceded multiple fricking times now?

You're pathetic. Again, what the frick are you trying to convince me of? I'm not even sure. You're so caught up in your little brother complex that you can't just fricking enjoy State for the sake of it. Everything has to be compared to Ole Miss, doesn't it?

I love Ole Miss, and some slapdick citing Make it Rain Sports isn't about to change my mind on that. Have fun being ugly. Trim your goatee you ginger frick.
