He is kind of known to be a creep to girls..

Well, that sucks. Still, even if he's known to be a creep - that's not against the law. If the prosecutor doesn't feel like there's a case there, I still think it'll be tough for the school to expel him for "being a creep." This is a state university, not a private religious institution.

Now, let me say - if he sexually assaulted that girl, throw the book at him. I have no sympathy for rapists and predators. I've just seen cases where a girl will embellish the truth of a sexual encounter if the guy doesn't want to be her boyfriend, or if she's embarrassed about her behavior, or if she just wants to get back at him for something. She was apparently willing when she sent him text messages about sex - what changed? Did she decide to say no before or after? You can't change your mind after the fact.

Semo

I completely agree with your sentiments, as usual.

Zou

If he has a reputation of prior conduct it makes sense that the Student Board has taken notice.

What a shitty and cloudy situation.

Sure you can, Semo. I have changed my mind numerous times, in regard to bad stock picks.

Here are my honest thoughts about this:

If Haith really thinks he is going to get kicked off the team, he would not be at this tournament right now. The rumors are unfortunately true, but if there was definite proof he would already be gone. Haith can't afford any issues since the whole Miami thing isn't completely resolved yet. He wouldn't risk his career for dixon. I think right now, there is hope he returns. all I'm saying is that I won't be surprised if he is gone. I've heard from several places this accusation is legit. This girls friend is close to one of my friends and has said this is all legit. The fact that there are no legal charges is good and may save his arse.

My assumption is that the university would keep Haith close to the know of what is going on. If it was looking like he would be kicked out of the university, dixon would probably be off team already.Hopefully we can get him back because we sure as hell need him.

shite just went nuclear on twitter guys. Mike Dixon with an "I DID NOTHING WRONG" tweet, Kim English laced into our student board on twitter for "making a decision without the facts, university should be ashamed" and then the utter bombshell that the girl in question tweeted back at Kimmie publicly her claim: "Mike Dixon is a rapist, I know because I'm the victim."

Christ.

The social media age sucks so much. We are parties to this too because as anonymous internet faces we all gossip about it and these young people know what is being said on the internet and if just one of them reacts publicly to it the dominoes all fall...and now here we are with their private lives with respect to a very very serious issue now about to be played out in the public and national media eye from here on out - with no known facts to base it on.

This is all just gonna suck so very much from here on out.

I see the tweet from the victim is gone. But her friend is on there defending her. Honestly between this and his grades, I think he is gone.

I just saw a screenshot of her tweet before it was deleted though. This is completely fricked.

yeah she put herself out there so I see nothing wrong with it.

it seems odd that a rape victim would be so public about this. I'm not trying to act like I know what is going on with her, but if she was raped I would think there would be more emotional and physical hurt that she wouldn't be tweeting about it. fricking information age.

ETA: I don't know what the hell I'm talking about so if you disagree with me don't hate, just my thoughts..

This is what I think. The Columbia PD has already thrown out the case. Student Board hasnt fully expelled him. So its up to the chancellor. If she really wants him thrown out of school, she prob feels like she needs to win in the court of public opinion. Make it so that the University cant take the PR hit of keeping him. She does this before the Chancellor makes his decision, because after he does it is final. However if there is outrage that he is still there, then it might influence the decision.

Just my thoughts

Ugh. Twitter sucks. And this young woman just threw it all out there. After Kimmy was just horrifically dumb. And Dixon. It was almost like they were baiting her or someone in the know to make it public.

Just ugh.

I don't think he would get kicked out after the appeal if it is really "he said, she said" bullshite. If he is kicked out there is more to this than we know. But that being said if there is enough evidence to kick him out why the hell wasn't there enough evidence to press charges against him? I just want this to fricking end. We NEED Dixon and I want to know what this season is going to be.

It seems she's taking a big risk accusing someone of something publicly they haven't been proven guilty of yet.

This whole thing seems kind of strange and wierd.
