Yes it was actually. Your not getting the point of signing within your limit of 85 total scholarships. There is attrition from year to year due to graduation, transfers, early draft entrees, etc.. What he is saying is that if you have only 25 slots available then you dont sign 28 kids.
So how in the hell does Richt know who is over and under the limits to sign the players they do? Maybe if he spent less time worrying about other programs, Ga wouldn't be sucking arse the last couple of years, ya think?

And you're defending a coach who is blaming his failures because other coaches are doing things WITHIN the rules.

Coach Saban has been recruiting Georgia pretty hard and getting some good players out of the state.
Alabama just got a good recruit out of Georgia whose brother is on the Georgia team. In fact, Alabama has gotten commitments from 6 Georgia boys already for next year.
Richt even committed secondary violations to get a commitment from a recruit last year that was between Georgia and Alabama. Sounds like Richt is getting desperate.

Anyone can figure out which schools are over or under on scholarships, its not that hard.

Your argument is really stupid considering he has taken under his limits ever year. It has to do with how many slots you have open from year to year.
I've learned a lot about Alahunter this week. You got to double check the bullshite he writes on here.

No, Isaiah Crowell. Richt put on a show for him when he visited Georgia that turned out to be an NCAA violation.
quote:
The SEC's interpretation was the "missing man" formation was an improper gameday simulation, which is prohibited by NCAA rules.
The event took place on Sunday, Jan. 23, the final day of Crowell’s visit. Richt and his staff arranged for the team’s offensive lineman, receivers, fullback and quarterback to gather during Crowell’s exit meeting in the indoor facility. The current players were dressed in gameday jerseys and looked up to Richt’s office, which overlooked the practice field.
At that point Richt, Crowell and his family left the office and went down to the field. By the time they arrived there, according to the letter, “the team was in an offensive alignment without a running back.” Crowell was then handed a jersey and stood in the vacant running back position.
“Coach Richt reported that the idea was to create a feeling for the PSA (prospective student athlete) that he was needed at the running back position that was left empty by the team,” the letter reads, adding that Richt was aware off the gameday simulation rule, but did not believe it applied in this case.
Crowell was Temporarily Ineligible

Hey, as long as you ain't oversigning, it's okay that they are getting arrested in droves

you are much, much better than this. When has Richt ever said, "we're not winning because other schools take more kids than us"? He has never blamed anyone other than him/ourselves for our problems.
There's a multitude of reasons why we've been down recently, and other coaches oversigning is probably last on that list.

Richt can't oversign, the state police have kept him well under limit here recently.

Rapoport: “How are you going to handle the numbers and when do you start to worry about it?”
Saban: “I’m not worried about them. It’ll all work out. I mean, the whole thing has a solution to every issue. You don’t put yourself in a position where you don’t know what’s coming, then have to take it in the chops. Aiight? We know how it has to be managed, and it will be managed.”
Saban: “And you don’t need to call me and ask me to write a column for you, and I won’t call you and ask you how to manage our numbers. How’s that?”
Rapoport: “So you’re not going to tell us?”
Saban: “I’m not going to tell you what? It’s none of your business. Aiight? And don’t give me this stuff about the fans need to know, because they don’t need to know.”
Rapoport: “I would never say that.”
Saban: “Don’t even ask. Aiight?”
Saban.

I'm not a big fan of oversigning but at least Saban doesn't lie to them, as Chris Jones said. Its not like when you offer a kid only because he's the best friend of a big-time recruit.

To add to what WG said, I never once defended Richt in the thread. I wrote two sentences prior to this post.

Oh, hey..
2011 signed 26
2010 signed 19
2009 signed 20
2008 signed 24
89 signed in 4 yrs.. so, oversigning a little is ok. Not knowing what anyone else has on scholarship and signing needs is da debil.
2007 signed 23
2006 signed 26
so in a four yr span.. 2006-2009 Preacher boy signed 93. Wait.. oops.. surely that can't be right.
this is honestly one of the dumbest fricking posts i have ever seen. holy shite.

He would be stupid to just come out and say that, but he can do it by talking about oversigning, knowing that everyone has been jumping on the Alabama/Saban oversigning myth.
It's a back-handed slap at Coach Saban for recruiting and getting kids out of Georgia.
Coach Richt is tired of going head to head recruiting with Coach Saban, in my opinion. Coach Richt wants to keep all the good Georgia recruits for himself and Coach Saban is getting some of them.
