I’m just completely mind blown by your reasoning here.

Why the frick would anyone want their team to fall short of the national title game?

Would Butler trade their back to back title game losses to not even have a shot and lose in the semi final? frick no

So the self-declared basketball Blue Bloods of Tennessee are a paper tiger! Lol

The scaling from going from Final Four to actual NC game seems low. Why do it like that?

Because he’s dumb.

Each round is awarded twice as much as the previous round.

This is the way.

Seems kind of low to only get 12 points for making the championship game but losing

Agreed. It makes more sense to double the point totals until you get to Final 4s and then do a total for runner ups and champions.

The following gives greater weight to Final 4s but seems like a more reasonable point scale...

1st Round: 1 point
2nd Round: 2 points
Sweet 16: 4 points
Elite 8: 8 points
Final Four: 16 points
Runner-Up: 25 points
National Title: 40 points

Honest question, does Auburn hang banners just for making the NCAAT?

Most schools do. At least one banner with all the years of making the tournament listed… I’m sure Kentucky probably doesn’t because they’d run out of room.

If it bothers you so much make a post with your scoring system. Not that it would matter though. People would still argue over how it isn’t a good scoring system.

Exactly.

They wouldn’t. That’s why a national title is worth 25 points while finishing runner up is 12.

No. And in my rankings they get 24 points for two runner ups.

One final four is worth 10.

I’m not sure what your issue is.

I suppose the final four would be a regional championship...but why would anything less be celebrated? Im way more impressed with the domination of SEC championships Kentucky has than the number of tournament runs where they didnt win a championship

Oklahoma has a decent basketball history. Just never won it all.

Championship Game: 1947, 1988
Final Fours (5): 1939, 1947, 1988, 2002, 2016
Elite Eight (9): 1939, 1943, 1947, 1985, 1988, 2002, 2003, 2009, 2016
Sweet Sixteen (11): 1979, 1985, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1999, 2002, 2003, 2009, 2015, 2016

Okay. Just for analysis’ sake, let’s change it to 1, 2, 4, 16, 32, and 64 points per round.

Auburn comes out as the better program, ahead of both Alabama and Tennessee. Does tRant truly believe Auburn is the best program of the 3?

Also, Florida skyrockets way past Arkansas… it becomes not remotely close with the Gators having 470 points to Arkansas’ 317. Do we all believe that Florida is that much further ahead as a program?

Did it like this and then added 5 points for regular season conference champions and 3 points for conference tourney champs. It shook out like this...and this is overall program, not where a teams season ended...programs get credit for Sweet Sixteens and Elite Eights in the same year historically, as they should in a ranking. That rewards programs for all NCAAt wins, not just one.

1985 - 2024
1. Kentucky - 825 points
2. Florida - 449 points
3. Arkansas - 352 points
4. Oklahoma - 267 points
5. Texas - 201 points
6. LSU - 142 points

12. South Carolina - 73 points
13. Texas A&M - 50 points
14. Vanderbilt - 44 points
15. Georgia - 29 points
16. Ole Miss - 21 points

All Time Program Rankings
1. Kentucky - 1,860 points

It’s no surprise that an Alabama fan doesn’t think Sweet 16s and Elite 8s are impressive. No surprise at all

Are they though? No one cares that we got to the E8 with Mike White.
