re: If you’re a voting SEC member, what is your reasoning to add FSU/Clem vs UNC/UVA?

We already have one of those in Auburn.

Forget play on the field, it is all about TV markets when it comes to expansion.

I hate to say this.
Id rather Clemson get invited to the SEC over UNC. UNC pushed us out of the ACC, id love nothing more than to watch them bleed out in that shitty conference of theirs

We've already got a fake military academy and fake fambly. What's one more cult to the mix going to hurt?
Better than the Ivy League wannabes the Cavaliers.

Absolutely None! They all should go somewhere else.

There's something about schools that use orange that attracts this sort of bullshite.

Pretty simple. Flarda State and Clemson are more Southern and Southeastern than UNC and UVA.

Clemson and FSU had their chance. The door should be shut forever, as it should with Georgia Tech.

Well if you think about it they really did us a favor. What if we were in the ACC up to this very day? Where would we be looking now?

Obviously, it's easier to beat UNC and UVA in football.
North Carolina and Virginia are two of the biggest states, and Virginia brings a share of the DC market. Those are big, rich areas for the SEC to penetrate. UNC is a basketball blueblood and Virginia is usually very good. They're both public Ivies and raise the academic profile of the conference. They're also the last two southeastern states without an SEC presence.
Florida State and Clemson are big brands that people tune in to see, especially in football, which adds value to the SEC. They're in states where we already have a presence, although that pulls less against Florida State than it does Clemson, since Florida is much larger than South Carolina. Florida State and Clemson are at a recruiting and financial disadvantage relative to other SEC teams, and not just Florida and South Carolina--Tennessee, Georgia, and Auburn are all in fairly close proximity. The SEC might be more interested if it believed that FSU and Clemson joining the Big 10 was imminent.
That's why I think some combination of North Carolina and Virginia schools are at the top of the SEC's list if we have to expand again (hope we don't). I think FSU and Clemson could get in, but probably only if the conference expands to 20. I could see them as the top 2 only if the SEC thought there was no hope of getting UNC or UVA.

UVA fashions themselves as an Ivy League school. Do not want. They bring nothing

Do Duke and UNC have some understanding to follow the other? Like Arizona/Arizona State?

not sure. Id think if that was the case the SEC would be looking at us and Clemson but yeah thats a good point. It still doesnt mean I want UNC anywhere near our conference.

About the .500 school you are now. What you see is what you get. Heck, it was only what 20 years ago or so, that y'all won your first bowl game, ever? And, please, correct me if i'm wrong, still have NEVER played a NY6 game or better ?

Not that I've read. It seems likely that the schools would schedule each other twice for OOC games in the event of a split, which seems likely.

It amazes me how much of the little brother syndrome Clemson fans have despite the success. You'd think our positions were reversed.

FSU and Clemson are tough because the SEC already has established programs in those states. FSU is a massive brand in a huge state, so they make a lot of sense to me but Clemson feels like diminishing returns in spite of their recent success. If Clemson doesn't join the Big Ten (I really don't believe they're a legitimate candidate), are we pretending that they'll have the same level of program interest and longevity playing road games against Utah and Colorado as opposed to Florida State and Georgia Tech? I just don't see it.
Virginia Tech over UVA is a no brainer to me. If UVA goes to the Big Ten and VaTech goes to the SEC, the divide in popularity between the two programs will just continue to grow.
North Carolina is trickier. I'd prefer the Wolfpack, but they're not as big a get as UNC and they already have a smaller footprint/fanbase. If the SEC can get UNC, NC State has no chance of joining the Big Ten and you more or less just guarantee them becoming even more of an afterthought.
This is the best answer.
1000% VT over UVA
