It’s a fair question, as evidenced by TCU’s presence in the playoff. Nobody in America outside of the state of Texas thought TCU was one of the 4 best teams in the country last year, and Georgia proved they didn’t belong.

Texas... and Michigan.

I honestly have never realized what a whiner Saban has turned out to be.

I don’t think anyone in Michigan did either, which is probably why TCU was able to win.

Evidently Michigan didn’t either.

Dude, Bama had 5/13 games last season decided by less than one score. All but 1 being road games. While one was against a top program last year, the rest were against schools that were OK, but not playoff level last year. Honestly, if Saban wants to whine about this, then the next words out of his mouth should be that Tenn should have been in playoffs because they had the same record as Bama, but a win against Bama.

Oh, look, Saban is bitching again.

If you don’t win your division you shouldn’t make the playoffs. Period. I don’t care how tough the SEC is. End of story.

The expanded playoffs have guaranteed an SEC team holding the national title trophy every season from here on out.
The SEC will have 3 teams minimum / 5 teams maximum every single season. For the few years where Ohio State, Clemson, and FSU defeated ONE SEC team in a nail biter in the postseason — Those teams will now be subjected to having to play at least 2 SEC teams in the playoff and possibly even 3 depending on how they are seeded.
All the extended playoff may possibly do in the grand scheme of things is make the regular season irrelevant for the SEC champions as we may see an LSU team that finished 13-0, have to have a rematch with a 12-1 Georgia they beat in Atlanta or a 12-1 Bama they beat in the regular season and then lose in the title game.

Psychiatrists could write complete volumes on the inferiority complex of the LSU fan. It’s an amazing, yet sad and pathetic disorder. The main symptoms cause them to be able to do nothing but obsess about and post on anonymous message boards about Alabama and Texas A&M
Sad.

His question is fair, but his further defense of it was laughable.
He continues to want Vegas to decide who gets in or points to the fact they would have his team favored over others as exposing some sort of flaw.
Vegas favored Bama in every game they played last year and they lost two of them.
Vegas also would've favored Bama over TCU had they lost another game or possibly even a fourth. This would have been the case even if TCU went undefeated and won the Big 12. So in Saban's world TCU and schools like them can play a Power 5 schedule, go undefeated, and shouldn't be allowed in because Alabama would still be considered better by people who set gambling lines. That's ridiculous.
You have to win your games at some point. They aren't just taking whoever has the most wins. Tulane would've never gone over Bama or Tennessee unless they were undefeated. TCU was a Power 5 school. Played a competitive schedule and won their games. If that doesn't count, then we might as well say it's only about four or five schools that should ever get in.

Their season was worthy of being in the Final Four though.
Just didn’t matchup well vs Georgia but possibly could have played well vs Ohio State.

It’s funny that TCU has been the target of Gump propaganda talking points in this, because they were actually the third seed in last year’s playoff. #4 Ohio State was the team that “got in” over Alabama.
Being selected for the playoffs is based on what a team demonstrates during the regular season and conference championship games. The Gumps instead want to selectively use the results of the championship game and a meaningless exhibition bowl game to say the deserved
to be in when the results of the season showed they clearly did not. Alabama’s argument aimed at TCU also ignores the fact that the Frogs beat #2 seed Michigan,
who no one challenged as being undeserving of being in the playoffs.
Judging based on reg season and CC, TCU controlled the game better vs common opponent Texas and their only loss was in an extra game they earned vs Bama not qualifying for its CC. Alabama’s case of being in over OSU was better than arguing it deserved to be in over TCU.
Alabama, based on their regular season, was not more deserving of being in the playoff than Tennessee last year - losing head-to-head to the Vols and having the
same record.

Are you really the best team if you lose and blow your shot? What a silly thing for him to say.

Saban is such a bitch. It's weird to see him resort to this.
