The basketball program was at rock bottom and could afford to look past Pearl’s infractions. Auburn football still can get much worse quickly. There is no margin for error in this hire.

Dude, just where do you think the football program is? I know it can get worse, but not much worse. We are basically a laughing stock right now. Shitty season, sex scandal investigation last Winter, coach didn't make it thru his 2nd season, AD quit/fired weeks before the season started. Before all that, we were losing coveted recruits that WENT TO AUBURN HS, to our main rival. We just beat LSU in Baton Rouge for the first time since Tuberville was on the sidelines. A good season now is beating a shitty LSU team. A majority of our fans are pushing for coaches with almost ZERO coaching experience.

Our next coach needs to be a homerun, otherwise what TN went thru will look like good times in comparison. Of the coaches that we know are available, Freeze is the obvious best choice. Urban ain't coming. He might be a good coach, but he doesn't have the sack to face Saban and Kirby every year. The other names being thrown around are crapshoots at best. Maybe we pull an LSU and get a big name currently coaching at a big time school, but I won't hold my breath considering our history of hires since Shug stepped down. Think about it. Since Shug, our only hire from a school of any significance, was Tubs at Ole Miss. The others were Wyoming, SANFORD, Iowa State, Arky State, and Boise State.

Yep even though McCaw had absolutely nothing to do with any of it. According to her interview on TV, she was assaulted by a medical student and not a football player. But she decided to attack McCaw anyway as if he somehow was involved.

So two games defines a coaches ability? I seem to remember a certain coach getting beat by Louisana Monroe at home. Wonder how things worked out for him?

If you are going to bring up losses, you should also bring up wins. Everybody wanted Kiffin, and his fan's glossed over his losses and the fact his best win was......Wait for it.......TROY!

I swear reason and logic are out the window around here. Bunch of fanboys who can't and won't see the big picture.

Lot's of attacks on character around here, but I've yet to see anyone admit that standing up for a friend, when you have nothing to gain, tells a lot about a person.

Let me just break it down simply for you to see through your fogged up Freeze glasses:

William Lawrence Muschamp has more SEC wins as a head coach than Freeze does. He also has no known scandals and is well thought of by PTB @ Auburn.

Freeze is OFF THE BOARD. Too much backlash from fans, especially women.

Let it go.

So you’re going with Saban’s very first year compared to Freeze’s 5th or 6th?

Do tell? Freeze is not some can’t miss candidate. The juice doesn’t outweigh the squeeze that comes with his baggage.

Weird. Both got fired from their SEC coaching jobs. Which one got fired for losing? Hate to break it to you, because I know how you like to live in fantasy land, but Freeze wasn't fired for NCAA violations.

Of the coaches being mentioned, he's head and shoulder above them. Isn't our goal with being coach-less, to hire the BEST available coach? His "scandals" were cheating on his wife, being the HC at a school that paid player that started under his predecessor, and defending a friend against false accusations.

His program had 15 level 1 violations and was hit with the dreaded lack of institutional control. Tunsil was his player. He admitted to getting paid. He received loaner cars. Most of the violations stemmed around Freeze. And remember this: he invited all the scrutiny in:

It wasn’t just the NCAA that took an interest in Freeze’s tweet. Dozens of concerned bystanders, eager to point out the crime of players being compensated for their skills, took Freeze’s words seriously. For years.

People hated Freeze so bad they took liberties to go out of their way to make sure he got hemmed up. Imagine wanting that trainwreck here.

Well, first of all Bruce won before Auburn. Freeze never even won his division.

And yet, this is what the NCAA had to say after their investigation: “He did not meet the obligation in monitoring the assistant coaches and the boosters,” Christopher said. “I think by looking at both aspects of head coach responsibility you get to how we tailored the penalty.”

Freeze received a slap on the wrist. His show cause was for 1 year and only for being a HC. He was free to work as an assistant or coordinator. He got all the attention from the general public, but according to the NCAA, it was his assistants that were playing dirty. How about instead of relying on opinions of random people, you actually look at the facts of the case first, and go by what the NCAA investigation actually said.

Or how about just not hire an average coach who creeps out little girls?

Well don’t complain when they hire Rhett Lashlee or Jeff Grimes.

Oh and “allegedly” creeps out little girls.

Neither did Tubs or Kiffin. Tubs came to Auburn and went undefeated and should have a natty associated with his name. Kiffin was highly coveted by most on this board and many thinking he was worth north of $10mil/year. His greatest personal accomplishment as a HC is a Sun Belt Championship. You know who else has one of those? Hugh Freeze......and a Sugar Bowl win.

You think this pardons Hugh right? How dumb are you? He was the HC and his program lost institutional control. That’s on him. Freeze taking the plausible deniability route doesn’t make him a saint in this.

Oh shite! Got to be a long line of programs trying to hire him! I hope we took a number when we showed up.

Oh wait, literally no one wants him or has wanted him for HC except a strange bunch of AU fans that long for 8-5 seasons with visors.
