Good luck to Mr. Barber. He is a hard worker. He runs hard. I think he would do well in the NFL as a Mike Tolbert FB/HB hybrid.

He already was passed by Jovon

Probably would have gotten passed by at least Kerryon too

He'd need to put on some serious weight. Tolbert is 5'9" 250, that's stout AF. Barber is 5'11" 225.

I think he could find a role as a 3rd string, short yardage type.

Not saying he needs to aspire to be Tolbert but I'm pretty sure Barber slimmed down to 225

I really hope he makes it as a third and short bruiser in the NFL.

It is probably a long shot, but you have to love his work ethic.

I am very excited for our options running the ball.

Tolbert has some decent wheels and hands for his size too. Peyton is no where near as physical as Tolbert.

Get real.

Roc Thomas and Barber had near identical YPC vs P5 schools and in conference. The difference is you can give Barber 20+ carries per game without fearing he is going to get injured.

Not the case. In an article or espn segment on his dyslexia he stated he had a 3.0

Nothing I said made mention that I thought he had bad grades. Or was stupid.

All I said was that a learning disability has GOT to make college courses a struggle.

And, yes, a kid with a learning disability that works his arse off obviously *can* have a good GPA.

Roc can do that too

Can he? Sure. But what would he rather do?

Stall, hold up, juke in the process of going nowhere and gather 0 YAC.

Yeah, players do not have to be the exact same size to play similar roles.

He has the academic tutoring available to ease it. That was also in the segment/article

And how many 225 pound guys do you see playing fullback in the NFL? I'll wait on your list.

I doubt there's many more besides Tolbert that are under 6'0". Tolbert is a freak, Barber is not. His ceiling is short yardage back off the bench.

So basically the exact same as Mike Tolbert's role?

My God, you all are the most bi-polar bunch of people in the world. Do i really need to go dig up all the threads from this past season where you all were like, thank God we have Barber? Now its I wish him the best, but meh, he wasn't that good anyway and we have better on the roster.

As bad as Auburn's record was it would have been a lot worse without Barber. There were multiple times during the season when he was the only person on that team offense or defense that had any heart whatsoever and willed Auburn to victories. I will take a kid like Barber with heart over a flash in the pan with fumbleitis that will cry about playing time cause he was a 5* like Roc any day of the week.

No. Not even close. Tolbert is also the starting fullback. He's one of the best lead blockers in the game. He's a poor man's Mike Alstott. Lineup at FB 90% of the time, and at HB on short yardage.

Barber will never take a snap at FB.

Tolbert has multiple seasons seasons with over 100 carries, so clearly he's been more valuable than just a short yardage back at points in his career. I would be amazed if Barber comes close to 100 NFL carries in his whole career.

Tolbert is also a big time recieving threat out of the backfield. He's got nearly 200 catches in his career. Barber is not a receiving threat.

You know this role does not really exist in the NFL? With a 46 players dressed on gameday, it cannot exist. Which makes me question the rest of your opinion.

Also you know that weight is not static. Barber has the same body type as John Conner.

Go ahead, nobody is denying that. But it's because we had nobody else for the first half of the season. Passing game was shite, Jovon and Roc were hurt, so without Barber all we had was an underweight true freshman. Barber was one dimensional, but that was the only dimension we had to the offense the first half of the season.

So yeah, we were lucky to have him. Because he was all we had. But lack of other options doesn't make him great.

Just telling it like it is. It's a FACT, statistically that Barber was not a good RB the last half of the season.

He had that great 3 game stretch where he scored 11 TDs. That was awesome. But the other 10 games? He only ran for 2 TDs.

YPC was a mediocre 4.3 as well. Which is appropriate considering he's a 4 yards and a cloud of dust RB and nothing else.

We needed his style of running this year. But he's just not THE guy. We have 3 guys with more talent and more potential. I like the guy, I really do, but that's just the way it is. Sorry.

Yes, I know. But as a RB that's the height of his potential. Which is exactly why his chances at an NFL career are so slim.

And no shite, people don't stay the same weight
That's exactly why I said he would have to put on weight when responding to the person that said maybe he could be a Mike Tolbert type.
He's only 20 lighter than Conner. That's doable, so if he's willing to switch positions then best of luck to him. Probably his only shot at the NFL.

Never said he would be. Thanks though.
