who he thinks will best position AU to win consistently.
You can not look at his hires and who has left and honesty think Malzahn thinks our staff is better.
He's hiring people he can control that won't disagree with him and that will ride the burning ship down with him.

It was well documented that Coach Boom and DC showed their dislike for the lack of urgency in the program to win.

Well if that is true you will get your wish when he loses his job for poor performance this season, right?

For what it's worth, a coaching staff is a team too. I think maple syrup is better than jelly but I'm not going to pour it on my peanut butter sandwich. Just doesn't work for me.
If you've got a team of coaches that are coaching in opposite directions then it won't matter how good they are individually.

At what point did the Auburn Board collectively agree that this is a bad thing?
I'm not a Gus Malzhan fanboy but the man got here by doing his own thing at a high level. Is it really such a bad thing that he wants his coaches to buy in? Do we really want to bring in a staff full of coaches that thinks the top guy is full of shite and that they've got better solutions? Sounds like chaos to me

No it is not. Provide actual proof or GTFO with shite made up on tRant. Assistant's are paid to coach their position, not run the program. Maybe if DC and WM understood how the chain of command works, they wouldn't be job hoppers.

I really like the core philosophy of his offense. I think it is great for the college game. I don't think he is a genius as much as a guy who through trial and error stumbled onto his offense and works hard at it.
Just wish he wasn't so secretive. As a fan, I'd like to not feel like my coach hates me

I want the coaches to buy into the philosophy and idea then offer insights/alternatives that best serve that idea. My worry with guys like Rhett/Kodi is that all their experiences they draw on is from Auburn.
If you hire a bunch of Harvard Lawyers at your law firm, your legal counsel will all have the same cookie cutter ideas.

that is on Gus
This is the point of the thread. It's on Gus and he should do what he feels he should to win games. He is and he doesn't care if you don't like the hires, and figures winning will soothe your raging souls.

A better comp is this:
Gus runs a personal injury practice. He's not going to sign on a bunch of real estate and tax attorneys

That's what I thought you meant. Has anyone ever had a good thing to say about Jabba?

Hostess has appreciated his business for a long time.

I wonder if he spiraled into depression when Hostess shut down for a few months?

Sounds like lots of people are in favor of the old Tuberville/Tony Franklin method of building a coaching staff.

You can dislike Gus right now, but he is doing what he feels he should and his way. I can respect that and he has every right to do this.
I can respect this as well.
I can also respect him after we fire him if next year is a train wreck, but honestly, at this point, JJ needs to go first.

What "bold moves" is Gus making? He is being forced into them by coaches leaving.
Huh? GM being forced? No, i think that it can also be the asst coach who is being forced because it is possible his HC won't accept his input, doesnt want his input, or who knows.
For an former player to leave after 3 years, then it doesnt have to be Malzahn being forced.
Unless someone has the facts, we will never know...
