Truth. The dude wants to move up, and Auburn is not the place for him to do that at the current juncture.

Auburn just essentially hired a brand new coach with next to zero recruiting ties, after one of the best recruiters (that happened to be an Auburn alum and previous Auburn great in football) in college football left in a lateral move to go to one of Auburn's biggest rivals.

I don't know who reads AUF, but the board pseudo insider WDE has implied that he has dirt on Kodi Burns and he has been extremely negative about hiring KB.

Interesting. Any details or hints to details?

Nope. Bird stopped him.

We also lost a coach that has been in charge of one of our worst units since Gus arrived on the plains. We bitched all year about our receivers. This is a convenient time to forget that.

Don't get me wrong. It sucks to lose DC to LSU. It may even signal what we already knew (There is little faith in Gus to right the ship). But DC didn't appear to be helping us on the field. That may not be his fault but it is what it is

Kodi Burns had some of that Tommy Thigpen in him when he was a GA. Difference was that Thigpen was 40 and Burns was ~24.
Burns is engaged (probalby married by now) though so

ETA**: Don't know if this is the dirt, just that it could be perceived that way. Or if you are James Franklin, it is a positive

Have you ever been aroubd someone who believes they aren't treated fairly, and progressing enough at work? They will move just to move.

Guys, I get that CDC wasn't doing a great job with WR's, but lets not forget, we didn't have a QB.

If LSU turns it around, he will be part of that and leverage his way into being one of the captains of the ship.

If Miles/staff gets fired, he can go to one of a million major programs

Dameyune Craig might not have been the best on-field coach. However, I also think he could've been coaching out of position.

That being said, my point remains. We hired someone with next to zero recruiting ties AND next to zero coaching experience (assuming Gayer Evans isn't blowing smoke as usual). We hired another "Auburn man" and it appears we did so just for the sake of filling a spot with someone Gus Malzahn was familiar with.

I like Kodi Burns. I'm thankful for his time at Auburn. He seemed like the ultimate "team" player, like Jonathan Wallace. I don't like Auburn hiring him, though. Not one bit...

I hear ya but it's not entirely Craig's fault we have no talent there. Sammie left early and Duke was a moron. The leftovers just aren't that good and no coach can change that.

Jay Tate said he has a story about Kodi Burns being hired just waiting for final confirmation before he officially reports the hire as opposed to "rumorU"ing it

Personally, he is a smug a-hole. Thinks highly of himself, and let's people know he has a NC ring, etc. But so was DC, Lance Thompson, Muschamp, etc. They are coaches, and need to appeal to 17-18 year old males when recruiting (who all think they are alpha). You don't hire a Tebow to recruit and coach urban males His short comings is a non issue. I am concerned about his lack of coaching experiance.

I totally agree. But we pay DC to have our backups prepared and they consistently were not.

I think Craig jumped on board to learn an exciting offense that everyone in the country was excited about. Craig was a big Gus fanboy and he made it known. Now that our offense is hitting growing pains I think he saw this as an opportunity he couldn't turn down.

He recruited well but as a coach it just didn't work out. He's headed to a school with some truly great receivers on the roster.

I told you it would be K. Burns. Malzahn is getting the Waffle House Gang together.

The only thing I find really perplexing about all this is that DCraig left this year.

Herman from Houston gets a new higher profile job next year. DCraig should have tried to latch on with Herman as his OC in a Saban/Smart relationship. Similar offensive styles

That would be fun to watch in Auburn.

Herman would be the best coach for us to hire if we part ways with Gus. He is Gus but with a track record of QB/PassGame development.

Seriously, he openly talks about using Gus' run game concepts and he developed QBs and passing from Urban Meyer system.
