I could deal with this.

I don't think B. Pearl would touch a program like Auburn. We don't have any tradition and we are a football school. Auburn will have to hire a young up 'n comer or some retread. Remember the last coach that we hired from La. Tech?

^ correct also I maybe wrong. but I think I remember hearing something in 2010 a few days after the Clemson game "Barbee was kinda upset that everyone was more focused on the football team. than the basketball team because he was planning to show some BBALL recruits around campus or something that day and there was little to no excitement for BBALL. and that Jacobs or someone approached him and asked him what was wrong? and Barbee replied just forget it."

I have no idea if those were rumors were true or not. but if they were did Barbee really expect people to be excited about BBALL in September? right in the middle of Football season?

He has said that he wants to coach at a school where he can build a program from the ground up. Well we're on the ground floor Bruce

I don't remember Auburn hiring a coach from La Tech unless you're talking about Franklin and he was OC at Troy, Auburn, and MTSU before going to La Tech

Tommy Joe Eagles came from La Tech. Unlike White though he took over a winning program. White took over for a team coming off back to back losing seasons.

I keep pulling up the AU board and my eyes see "Barbee is fired".. The "if" has a way of excluding itself every time. Needless to say, I get a little rush of excitement, only to have it snuffed out by the realization he is still AU's coach.

Isn't Pearl an NCAA problem child?

What's the worst that's going to happen? Auburn's bball program receives sanctions? Could anyone even tell the difference?

People need to give up on Pearl coming to Auburn. It's not happening. Also everyone needs to prepare themselves for the strong possibility that Barbee is given another year. I'd place the odds at about 65% that he is given another year unless he embarrasses the school in a way not related to our win loss record.

If he gets to 5 conference wins then yeah I'd say he probably gets another year.. if he doesn't get to 5 I don't see how Jacobs can provide a reason to keep him another year.

Id say he needs at least 7 conference wins because its pretty obvious that we will be less talented next year losing 2 starters including one of the beat scorers in the conference and don't have a very good recruiting class coming in

Sam Longwood isn't considered good?

Well to be completely fair we aren't that talented to begin with so that argument isn't strong.

One pretty good 3* doesn't make a good recruiting class there is a reason this Class is ranked 111th

Got to looking at our bb history, and we were a good program during the 80s and 90s. But, it's not working with Barbee. Regardless how the season play's out, he needs to go.

The few basketball donors we have like Barbee and blame the losing on being shut out from AAU Nike teams. I don't know if it is true but one of the biggest donors told a story about Austin Nichols(6'9 PF starts for Memphis as a Fr) giving Barbee a silent commit on his official visit. When he got back home they claim Nike pressured his AAU coach and himself to go to a Nike sponsored school.

ETA: I'm not a believer in the Nike AAU conspiracy.
