PAM says Boom is a serious candidate @ SCe & may interview todsay. Believes SCe will offer Boom.
JGT still believes this morning Boom is not a serious candidate.
Lastly, Weagle25 says these guys don't know shite.
All bases covered.

If you go off interwebz traffic, it is likely Champ goes to USCe. He has apparently contacted Jeff Scott as OC.

One thing I have learned about Auburn sports. If you want to know what really is happening with Auburn personnel follow Bama guys. They always seem to know what is up before our own.
LOL
Truer words have never been spoken.

JGT says a trusted source insists SCe AD Ray Tanner has others higher on the board than Boom right now FWIW. Still has Boom @ AU @ 90%

Tanner is screwing this thing up in a horrible way. He has known for months that they need a new HC. Every major candidate is coming off the board. It seems he is a worse AD than JJ.....if that is even possible.

Excerpt from free Rivals piece by JGT
quote:
With all that said, I don't believe Muschamp is South Carolina's No. 1 target right now. Their athletic director, legendary baseball coach Ray Tanner, is keeping things close to the vest, but a trusted source insists that Tanner is more enamored with a few other candidates. Muschamp's fiery demeanor makes for great television and affects players in generally positive ways, but many observers think it's a bad look for head coaches to be so temperamental.
Look, interviews are important events. Muschamp probably will interview with Tanner at some point and opinions certainly can be changed, but I believe Muschamp will need to make up ground when that day comes.
There are a handful of other schools searching for a head coach (Miami, Missouri, Virginia, Syracuse, Maryland come to mind), though Muschamp's name hasn't been associated with any of them.
Some observers have suggested that Muschamp may be heading to Georgia or Alabama as defensive coordinator. Barring some unforeseen development, I consider both of those possibilities unlikely. Here's why:
GEORGIA: The Dawgs' new head coach, former Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart, is one of Muschamp's very best friends. Plus, Muschamp played at Georgia. He's from Georgia. It seems like a good match, but that kind of move doesn't make a lot of sense from Muschamp's perspective. Remember that his goal is to become a head coach. He is no closer to that goal working as Smart's lieutenant at Georgia and moves into a new situation with new personnel in Athens. (Read: New problems.) The argument could be made that it's a potential setback in that Georgia likely will face some significant growing pains next fall.
ALABAMA: Muschamp rose to national prominence as one of Nick Saban's most trusted assistants at LSU and later with the Miami Dolphins. He has spent the past decade breaking out of Saban's shadow and proving his legitimacy. Moving back into Saban's shadow only makes sense if he's prepared to spend the rest of his career as Saban's sidekick. That is 100 percent incompatible with Muschamp's goal.
So what does Auburn offer? A lot. He makes great money here, he has as much autonomy as any defensive coordinator in the country, he's satisfied with how Gus Malzahn has allowed him to pursue and sign the kids he wants at Auburn. Plus, the Tigers' problems this season centered around a black hole at quarterback and and a fluky, poorly timed injury to defensive end Carl Lawson. There is every reason to believe Auburn's offense will rebound next season, which does nothing but enhance and improve Muschamp's reputation. An effective offense helps the defensive cause in profound ways.
He may have to deal with tackle Montravius Adams' possible early jump to the NFL, but the junior's plans aren't well known at this stage. That may be a non-issue.
I was asked two weeks ago about the chances Muschamp coaches at Auburn next season. I listed those chances at 95 percent. Georgia's decision to hire Smart removed Smart from the conversation at South Carolina, which creates a better opportunity there for Muschamp.
I have adjusted my percentage accordingly, down to 90 percent, but I nonetheless remain firm in my belief that Muschamp will be coaching at Auburn next season.

Boom interviewed w/ SCe last night. JGT still believes chances of Boom & T-Rob returning are high FWIW. There's talk of Fedora & UNC beig the real SCe target which I believe JGT supported.

Head coaches typically don't leave or consider leaving during championship runs.
Fedora could beat Clemson and find himself in the playoff depending on how things fall. I would be really surprised to hear that he is interviewing right now.

Thanks for posting. Nice to see something a little more concrete, i.e. something from JGT instead of all the chicken little bullshite the fans on this board feel compelled to post.
Thinking out loud, but I wonder if SC is the only opening Boom would entertain or if he's so miserable he'll bolt the first chance he gets.

So if Muschamp interviewed last night is that why the in home got rescheduled with Mcloud?

It's a matter of realizing a HC job almost anywhere is better than being the DC at Auburn or any SEC school

quote:That could be part of it. I still think it had to do more w/ Zach picking Miami in his mind at least & not wanting the visit. The in home was more for Gus to go ahead & use his 1 in home w/ Zach since he is an EE & has to decide soon.
