From what i see in these vids, Sean is a good Qb that was given almost zero chance to throw the ball in the red zone. Play calling was absolutely terrible.

Feel free to watch the vids before disagreeing

I like White but I lack confidence that malzahn can put him in good positions to succeed without running a zone read or having the ability to stretch a play to let a receiver get open.

I would really like to see some creative play calling on the offensive side of the ball all together. In the Memphis game, we went back to a lot of pre snap motions and I think this is a big key to us getting going again.

Why are we bringing this up again?

I think everybody's shared their opinion. We'll see in September

So when we ever feel like seeing what a record setting freshman Qb looks like, we will have this thread as a reminder

If White is 100% he can run the read option better than most people think. Against MSU he got up over 80 yards rushing before the OL imploded and got him sacked 3 or 4 times in the 4th qtr.

The part I'm not confident in is White staying healthy while running a read option.

But given a whole offseason to tailor the offense to White instead of to JJ only to have JJ epically fail, hopefully Malzahn has a plan in place to use White the most effective way he can.

That gives me no confidence. The only thing I saw was a QB who isn't allowed to make reads and is told where to throw the ball.

I am not a White fan by any means. I don't see championship caliber talent in him and I believe to win a championship with our O and D you'll need superior QB play. However, White has and can by a decent SEC QB. I just see a low ceiling. Play calling isn't his only issue.

I agree with the OP, the play calling was crap and that is Gus' fault for turning over the play calling to Lashlee.

Fire Jay Jacobs!

And CGM kept putting JJ in nearly every time we got in the red zone. Killing any momentum the drives had.

And if you noticed, not once did Gus call a passing play inside the 30 yard line where he took a shot at the end zone. It was pound the rock all the way down the field and if you cant run it in, settle for the field goal. So basically, if youre not a running Qb, you have zero chance in Gus's offense. Not because you cant be successful throwing the ball, but because he wont let you.

As salty as the person who had to start another thread crying about how Sean White won't be a good Gus QB?

Most people would rather listen to Robert Bentley's sex tapes than read more of your SW posts

For once you posted something worth reading.

Not worth dealing with your refusal to actually discuss the QB situation in yet another thread as multiple others pointed out.

I've already discussed the damn Qb situation so what the hell are you talking about??? Ok, lets recap.

Sean is our starting Qb. Watch the damn vids and you will see he has a lot of promise and could be really effective for us this year. He moves really well in the pocket, delivers accurate passes under pressure, doesnt shy from contact, and can extend plays with his legs. He has average arm strength and above average accuracy. He is the first freshman in Auburn history to ever throw for over 250 yards in his first three games. The guy is going to be really good if the playcalling allows his to utilize his skill set. If not, then he will be the game manager between the 20s and a guy that hands the ball off or gets subbed out for a wild cat option in the red zone

JFIII sucks dick as a Qb. Period. Sure he can run wildcat and the zone read, but actually throwing the football? yeah right. If its past ten yards, forget about it.

JJ is JJ. You know what youre going to get. A Qb that forces the ball deep, doesnt check it down, throws it into coverage and has zero touch on the short and intermediate routes. Decent running ability when he is being aggressive but overall runs scared.
