As salty as the person who had to start another thread crying about how Sean White won't be a good Gus QB?

someone doesn't know what salty means.

whats sad is that he was our best option. mega casty.

Hopefully that star studding recruiting class we just hauled in has at least one guy that can be THE guy. Craig and Davis would be my guess

I take it you didnt watch the vids? Dont answer, i already know you didnt. Seems the announcer for ESPN thinks he did. You'll have to take it up with him, or at least provide proof to the contrary

Well he didn't throw for 250 in his first three games so at least part of that statement has to be wrong.

Threw for 188 in the MSU game and 108 in the San Jose State game. Then he threw for 250+ in three straight games after that.

Maybe not his first three games, but either way, Sean was the first freshman QB to throw for over 250 yards in three consecutive games. I know i heard the announcer say some shite like that.

I watched all Auburn games last year so I don't need any videos to tell you he didn't throw for 250 yards or more in his first 3 games.

Did he break any records last year?

The real issue here is why can't Gus Malzahn, the supposed offensive genius, adapt his offense to fit the skills of a QB like Sean White?

No one has argued that Sean White is shitty rather that he isn't great/elite. If breaking records by throwing 250 yards is a thing at Auburn, says more about our history than SW

The central argument from the beginning has always been as Brannigan said that Gus can't make his offense work for Sean White.

Check my post history where I have always maintained that at a system like UGA with Richt or UF Mcelwain I have always though White would be a great fit and do well.

Specifically, Gus in his own words says we are a "down field passing" attack. We have little to no intermediat passing game

It shouldn't be a surprise that Sean hasn't thrown for TDs or led TD drives. He doesn't have a rocket arm to hit those deep TDs

Between the 20s our deep routes make wide open targets between 5-20ish yards. Sean just has to find the open guy and he has done a solid job for a guy in his 2nd year.

Once we hit the 20 yd line though we don't stretch the field and our passing attack breaks down. With Nick Marshall or Cam, the rush threat and QB spy/contain opened up offensive opportunities

Sean doesn't give us that. So once we hit the 20 we stall out

Sure, I guess. Chris Todd also broke records.

The cards are stacked against Sean in this offense. Even a good QB will likely fail in that context. I think SW could be a solid QB but he isn't Tom Brady ability who can overcome a scheme

Chex just doesn't get it. No one is arguing SW can't make a read nor that he shows he can be a solid passer.

We don't see anything elite, and without being elite it is hard to see a pocket passer overcoming Gus' flaws.

Our offense values arm talent over pass reads. If we were at Arkansas or UGA I'd be stoked having SW. We aren't and so I don't value what SW brings to Gus table

I know, man. Trust me.

My arguments around me not wanting Sean White to start have been fully explained multiple times. I don't think he's a bad quarterback by any means.

I have stated multiple times that I think he would be more successful somewhere like Wisconsin, Alabama or Georgia because of the offense he would be in. I also don't think Gus Malzahn and Rhett Lashlee adapt their offense towards non-dual threat quarterbacks (see Sean White running the read option for an example). As you mentioned, Auburn's offense requires a big-armed, athletic quarterback given the plays Gus Malzahn wants to call. Sean White doesn't fit that bill.

I have also stated that I would prefer John Franklin III start at quarterback given the surrounding cast Auburn currently has. We have more playmakers at running back than any other offensive position. At receiver, we are mediocre at best with our upperclassmen. Although we have talent coming in, they are freshmen and probably not ready for the 2016 season. They can't and shouldn't be relied on at this point. Auburn is also replacing Avery Young and Shon Coleman, both tackles, and Sean White doesn't have body to hold up on hits/sacks and doesn't have the athleticism to get away from rush defenders in the SEC. However, picking between the 3 quarterbacks (not counting Woody Barrett because he's nowhere close to being ready) is like picking between hammered dog shite, microwaved diarrhea and piss filled lemonade.

I don't hate Sean White, not even close. I'm just tired of people anointing him as a potentially great quarterback when we have seen what happens when he is on the field. He hasn't even been proclaimed the starter by Gus Malzahn. In fact, there's a reason Auburn was going after Davis Webb and Eli Jenkins. Auburn was 3-4 with him at quarterback and he scored 1 touchdown all season. Chris Todd, Clint Moseley and Barrett Trotter found more success in their given time in this offense. He could improve and I hope he does if he starts, because Auburn has pressing needs all over the field.

My post history indicates I had a hard on for Sean White during his recruitment and followed it very closely:

We shall see, Sean is the only one he's had that's worth a shite outside of Tulsa and Ark St.
