I think Greg Robinson would fit well at guard. His best attribute was run blocking at Auburn...

I think GR will do well at guard as well. Not sure why he didn't succeed at pass blocking at tackle though. He was quick enough to block on the edge.

Maybe LA will cut him so Denver can pick him up for a guard position. He would be sick in a zone blocking scheme, IMO. He's athletic and fast.

I dont think Greg really gives a shite about football. I remember when he redshirted, coaches said he was raw and needed time to develop. Looking back I take that as them saying he was immature and had a crappy work ethic.

Just checked out Nick Fairley's stats for this year, 40 tackles and 5.5 sacks, good for him. That should get him at least a new 3 year contract.

Not sure how you would ever come to that conclusion. That's kind of stupid.

quote:

Trovon Reed has been an improbable source for a material the Chargers carry in short supply.

At a dark time, he’s brought them light.

The cornerback may be the most surprising December development on a team of 53. He wasn’t here in training camp. He wasn’t signed to the practice squad until late October. But his beaming energy and presence have galvanized his secondary room, teammates say, as he emerges into the latest player the Chargers didn’t expect to depend upon this year.

His road here was radiant.

A woman was the spark.

Reed lost his mother, Roszaina Johnson, to a brief battle with colon cancer on March 6, 2009. He was still a junior in high school, so she was not alive to see him commit to Auburn — he did so months later on her Nov. 19 birthday — or play in college or the NFL.

Still, Reed fulfilled a promise.

quote:

It is odd, seeing Reed interact with his teammates.

He just got here.

He just got here, and yet, when guard D.J. Fluker walked past him in the locker room in November, he caught the offensive lineman by surprise by snatching the Alabama beanie off his head, slamming it to the ground and yelling “War Eagle!” like an O’Doyle brother from the Adam Sandler movie, “Billy Madison.”

I need someone to tell me more in detail about how horrible Cam's completion percentage is.

ATLANTA (WTVM) - Austin Deckard had a wish and it was granted Tuesday.

Just one day before he is scheduled to have a stent implanted to combat his advanced pulmonary hypertension, Austin, 10, got his wish to meet NFL superstar and Auburn Tigers great Cam Newton.

Newton visited Austin at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, according to a representative at the Cam Newton Foundation.

The Auburn Tigers also captured the touching moment on their Snapchat. During their meeting, Newton gave Austin an Under Armour bag and played a little

Austin's teacher, Courtney Cooper, shared Austin's story and his wish on Dec. 20, and his story went viral.

Doctors diagnosed the fifth-grader and eldest of three siblings, who is a big Auburn Tigers fan, with it 3 weeks ago and Cooper said his diagnosis was not good.

He would be the first to tell you, he gets more reward from these things, than football can ever bring.

I have worked with Special Olympics a good bit, and it just fills you up with awesome.

In your mind, Cam's mechanics, completion percentage, and decision making are all the victims of big bad Mike Shula and the coaching staff. You cannot see anything past that. Even irrelevant articles of Cam's off the field charitable activities automatically triggers your defense of Cam, and that is sad.

If you really look his mechanics haven't changed too much since college and that is 100% on both himself and his qb coach/OC for not developing them. The offense was bad this year because of the poor line play that completely messed Cam's clock in the head up which caused poor decisions. He also pressed more because of the defense not being as strong(see Matt Ryan 2013-2015). Shula will end up being the fall guy would love to see a qb developer come in and work with Cam

Yep I'm actually happy for him that he ain't got to deal with that shite for a while.
Panthers should get the eighth pick in the draft.

https://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000769130/article/cam-newton-leads-nfls-top10-most-aggressive-qbs

quote:

No starting quarterback threw into tight windows more than Cam Newton in 2016, as 24.9 percent of his pass attempts went to a receiver who had less than one yard of separation.

quote:

What this stat provides us is a reminder that few quarterbacks operate in an environment that creates a higher degree of difficulty. The Panthers offensive design requires Newton to hit high-degree of difficulty passes both deep and outside the numbers. Even his 20.3 tight window percentage on passes that traveled fewer than 10 yards in the air trailed only the Rams' quarterbacks.

quote:

In recent years we've seen the Carolina front office almost overcorrect in an attempt to rectify this issue by drafting behemoth receivers like Kelvin Benjamin and Devin Funchess. The trouble with that approach is that they only serve to extrapolate the high-degree of difficulty for their quarterback. Benjamin checked in with the lowest average separation on his targets (1.8 yards) and Funchess, who barely got on the field anyway, came in with the fourth lowest (2.0) among receivers who saw 20 or more targets. Again, some of that comes back to the scheme Carolina runs and Benjamin has shown some prowess winning at the catch point. Still, the Panthers would be wise to alter their approach with Newton in the same way the Steelers once did with Ben Roethlisberger, as Around the NFL's Chris Wesseling suggests. This also suggests that the Panthers need to explore acquiring another receiver who can quickly separate in their routes to provide Newton an easier target for easier completions, rather than constantly asking him to rifle passes into the tight windows provided by his current mammoth wideouts.

And the obvious assumption is that Cam didn't have any better options than to throw it in coverage. Without that assumption, one could assume that making bad decisions and throwing it into double coverage or white on rice coverage would also contribute to the tight windows stat.

I have always been the chief proponent of getting more WRs for Cam though. Funny how you are so quick to forget that. I sure as crap didn't need any help but nobody came to my defense last year when Meta was acting like the front office did enough by drafting Funchess and Bengamjn. I said then that Bengamin was inefficient and Funchess was a low grade improvement to our roster and he still is. We shouldn't be throwing to Ginn or Bersin either. Hot Garbage.

Great article, thanks for sharing. Could their lack of separation be due to the Oline not giving Cam enough time to throw? Isnt Ginn oneof the fastest WR in the NFL. I would like to hear his separation # of course he doesnt have the best hands. I like how he says the steelers changed it up w?Roethlesberger but Antonio Brown would make any QB look better. I think Carolina should give Josh Gordon a 5th chance.
