Don't be an SEC idiot; the guy is an elite talent

Elite talent, but he doesn't have what it takes mentally to make it in the NFL. Me thinking that has nothing to do with him being from LSU.

Even if he does end up being pretty good it's hard to justify taking a RB in the top 10 these days

Except that the Panthers don't run "down hill".

They run the damn option so the running back has to have the ability to read the blocking, find the hole, plant his foot and cut. Pretty sure Fournette didn't do much of that at LSU.

They've done both; but the word coming out is that they want Newton to be more of a pocket QB. I think that means less read-option and a shift back to a more traditional running game.

And if I'm an "SEC idiot", how do you explain the fact that I'm drooling over "SEC" OJ Howard? I would also cream my pants if LSU safety Jamal Adams dropped to #8.

Oh, sorry, guy. There is a stupid trend among fans of SEC teams to pretend like Fournette really isn't that great.

I am just totally against using a top ten pick on a running back.

Mainly because I disagree that Fournette is a "generational talent".

A very good running back? Yes.

An Adrian Peterson/Barry Sanders/Bo Jackson? No.

Ergo, I don't like the idea of using a top ten pick on him.

-Seattle Seahawks resigned Neiko Thorpe
-Chargers release King Dunlap. Would be a great addition for the Panthers.
quote:

Lot of moves being made:
-Nick Fairley got a huge contract with the Saints
-Lemonier signs with the Jets
-The Colts made Quan Bray an ERFA- exclusive rights free agent.
He is probably staying put but his spot isn't guaranteed.
-Karlos Dansby goes back to the Cardinals. One more good year and he will beat Takeo for the most tackles in the NFL from former Auburn players. With that said, Karlos will willingly tell you that the league gips him out of tackles so he should probably already have it.
-SenDerrick Marks was cut but will land somewhere else.
-Darren Bates signed with the Tennessee Titans to be their ST stud.
-Jerraud Powers is still a FA
-Chargers release King Dunlap

Carolina Panthers:
-Traded Kony Ealy to the Pats for a second round pick. WTF! Why does everyone help out the Pats
-Mike Tolbert to the Bills..as a RB not FB. Underrated runner in my eyes for years.
-Klein, a backup LB, to the Saints
-Ted Ginn to the Saints
-Cut WR Corey "Philly" Brown
-OT Mike Remmers to the Vikings on a 30 million dollar contract. LMAO!!
-Resigned Julius Peppers ( farewell tour?)
-Signed Safety Micheal Adams from Green Bay.
-Signed former Viking Matt Kalil, a massive OT, to a 55.5 million dollar deal.
- Signed veteran WR Charles Johnson from the
- Resigned CB Captain Munnerlyn from the Vikings. Dope!
-Signed WR Russel Shepherd from the Bucs.

Mcshay's mock draft 3.0 has Fournette to the Panthers. Also of note, OJ Howard to the Jags with the 4th pick.

And since y'all are interested in the Panther's running system.

I don't see him living up to a top 10 pick, but if he can take a lot of the pounding away from Cam then I guess I can come around to this.

Most mocks don't have Adams that high. This guy's based it solely on his opinion that Adams is the best available player left at #31. He may very well be the best at that point, but the reason most scouts and mocks have him in the second is the perception of him taking plays off and not giving full effort as a junior.

Al.com article. Mcshay basically says the same thing as ^^.

The silver lining is that if MA has already conquered the consistency issues, he is set. NFL draft concerns such as speed, size, and ability are the career damning issues. Another thing, second and third rounders are usually bound to their rookie contracts a year less than the first rounders. If MA does really well, he is one year closer to maximum contract than the first rounders and/or he can choose his next team quicker.

quote:

Montravius Adams has wanted to play in the NFL since he first started playing football when he was 7 years old. The former Auburn defensive lineman is a little more than a month away from actualizing that dream, with the NFL Draft set to take place April 27-29. It's just a matter of when Adams will hear his name called and where he lands.

While Adams' stock has been on the rise, that wasn't always the case for the former five-star prospect. It's why one draft analyst said there's "a little bit of concern" surrounding the 6-foot-3, 304-pound defensive tackle. "Adams was the most explosive of the defensive linemen at the Senior Bowl," ESPN NFL Draft and college football analyst Todd McShay said Wednesday during a teleconference. "A really good season on tape this past year. Two years ago, the effort was not there, so a little bit of concern with him. That's why I think he falls to the Day 2 range." What former Auburn defensive tackle Montravius Adams believes he'll offer an NFL team What former Auburn defensive tackle Montravius Adams believes he'll offer an NFL team McShay's belief is that Adams will be a second- or third-round selection.

The NFL Draft holds the first round on the opening day before Rounds 2 and 3 are picked on the second day of the event. Adams is ranked as the No. 7 defensive tackle and No. 81 overall prospect in this year's class, according to NFLDraftScout.com, which also projects him as a second- or third-rounder. As a senior at Auburn, Adams put together his most complete season, totaling 44 tackles, with 8.5 for a loss and 4.5 sacks. He also had 15 quarterback hurries, two pass breakups, an interception, a forced fumble, a fumble return for a touchdown and two blocked kicks. He rode that wave of momentum through the Senior Bowl, the NFL Combine and then last week's pro day at Auburn, where he ran an unofficial 4.83 40-yard dash.

McShay's concern, however, comes from Adams' previous seasons, when he flashed his potential but struggled with consistency. It was something that was brought up continuously throughout his career by Auburn's coaching staff before he was finally able to put it all together and break through as a senior, when he earned All-America and All-SEC honors from the Associated Press.

Consistency has been a focal point for Adams, even after his college career ended. He admitted as much after Auburn's pro day last week. "It was a little challenging but just knowing consistency is the key," Adams said. "So really that was my main thing, coming out here trying to stay consistent. I kind of figure going in that I'd get something like that. it's just good to go through adversity." Adams isn't too worried about when he will be selected in next month's draft, however. "I'm just happy and anxious to see what comes," he said.
