Edit: that site design is an absolute massacre btw. Oddly makes me appreciative of the rant's user interface.

I certainly can't blame the guy. I absolutely hate Gus Malzahn. Anytime he is in a bind he goes to ASU first to try and pluck away. Makes me appreciate Norvell that much more for turning him down. I just don't know why you leave to go to a school where the HC runs the offense. Unless he was promised otherwise. I get it's the SEC and $$ talks but their last OC just made a move to a lesser school. I'm just sick of our kids having to learn new offense year after year now. But as a fan you just have to hope for the best. Just feel bad for the kids

I'm going to not eat anything until the start of next season. Then I'll either eat an entire crow and be pleasantly surprised by our OL being good, our KB coached WRs balling out and Stidham making Dabo cry; or get absolutely wasted when Tyler Queen steps onto the field for a trick play first snap game one. Another Auburn rollercoaster either way.

Does Chip give honest answers at press conferences or Chizik coach speak?

I'm guessing the BOT and JJ started feeling heat from the outsiders for not letting Gus hire who he wanted to hire, or Gus literally struck out on all the hires when he was swinging for the fence and Chip was the last option.

Or, we offered Riley a huge contract, and he turned it down, causing the delay and Chip as a solid backup. There doesn't have to always be a conspiracy theory involved. Nothing indicates mismanagement was in play, as many of you always suggest.

Ignorance is bliss huh.
Multiple sources mentioned a possible power struggle before the AL.com article ever came out.

I have no problems with Chip Lindsey being the new OC. None.

I actually think it was the right call. The PTB/Board/whoever should support their head coach until they don't. My problem was with the way it unfolded, the time it took. We didn't need any fodder for al.com hit pieces this recruiting cycle.

Chip was probably Gus' first choice and I fully support the idea that Gus should get to pick his assistants, and needs to live and die by his decisions. I am not currently convinced that Gus is the coach for Auburn long-term, but maybe he will evolve.

I will stay optimistic...until I'm not.

I think that they went after other guys and when nothing materialized he was OK'd to hire Lindsey. Nothing unexpected here, and not a hard prediction at all. Its a good hire.
