That's not a recruiting issue. Outisde of bama and a couple of other big name state schools not many places can recruit to a level where you can replace multiple injuries without a drop off.

Can't believe I'm agreeing with Brannigan but I am. It is a recruiting issue in part. They did a poor job for a while of recruiting quality pass rush talent to build depth behind & suppliment Lawson.

It's not a recruiting issue, it is recruiting. Got it.

We didn't have multiple injuries, we had 1 injury and our pass rush disappeared. (Well Daniels also got kicked off the team. But still)

Again it has been our most talented position by recruiting rankings so why you always single him out makes no sense

His real gripe is we don't recruit pass rush specialist/ speed rushers. That is pretty legit given most of our DE recruits are SDE/potential DT guys.

Here are the 2013-2016 HS DE recruits. Only two of them have played significant snaps at DE. Carl Lawson is really the only speed rusher/pass rush specialist type guy. Davidson isn't a speed rusher

2013 1/2

Lawson
Elijah Daniel - Mostly played inside before the boot

2014 0/3

Andrew Williams - Moved inside
Justin Thornton - Left team
Rasheed Kennion - Left team

2015 0/2

Prince Tega - Moved to OT
Byron Cowart - Moved inside

2016 Maybe 2/4

Prince Sammons - Moved to OT
Marlon Davidson- SDE and most writers projected a future move inside
Daquan Newkirk - Plays DT in JUCO
Nick Coe - Projected SDE 247

Before this argument, his thing was about DT depth recruiting. Which was legit given we never had >1 HS DT recruit 2013-2015

We need to start converting some LBs to DE.

I would start with TD Moulty

I mean, you aren't going to find more than 2-3 schools in the country who have recruited that level of talent on the DL over the last 5 years. Last year was the first year that wasn't well above average.

You can complain all you want about what happened after they got on campus but those are some pretty outstanding recruiting results at that position.

Except it isn't just "after they got on campus." Most of the DEs we've recruited were SDE/potential move inside type guy from the beginning.

We are only just now properly recruiting 2+ DTs per class. Our lack of DT depth has really hurt us compared to 2013 when we rotated some 6-8 guys at DT

We've been rotating like mofos on the DL. Just because some of them were "tweeners" doesn't mean they should have ALL moved inside. I could be wrong but I don't remember hearing anything about Cowart moving inside while he was being recruited. That's an after the fact problem, stop feeding those boys so much.

An after the fact problem we don't do anything about by say recruiting DEs.

Just look at the 2017 class, we signed 1 DE despite having only 3 DEs on the roster
You go through the list and you know that makes 0 sense

I can't believe I am agreeing with Randy, but the best pass rush DE's in our recruiting footprint have almost all been early leans to rival schools.

Outside of Bama, nobody has stocked up with them. Our DL has been the strongest part of our D each year though.

We have not been able to move LB's to that spot out of necessity. We are finally deep enough, and can spare a guy or two at the LB spots. Moultry should do nicely. Plus, we should have the best pass rush in years from the inside guys.

How does it make you feel, to listen to someone who constantly complains about things that they shouldn't be concerned at all about?

That is how some feel listening to you. You're the master of summer recruiting melts every year, a clear 6 months before signing day and even before our priority targets become totally clear. Mirrow meet Randy, Randy meet Mirrow.

And then we finish how we normally do on signing day and it all makes sense, until next summer.. when your melt picks up steam again.

Markeviest Bryant and TD Moultry, both, should be able to help as pass rushers.

FWIW people connected to AU on The Bunker are still very confident we lead on Fields and still says FSU staff still feel we lead after his recent trip to Tallahassee. Mikecb is permaban betting posters over there that we get Fields. Apparently FSU tried to get Justin to commit on the trip but he didn't. Again TIAFWIW.

I have heard our staff is very confident in landing Fields.

The thing with recruits, you never know what they are telling other staffs.
