No way I would call it a joke. There is lots of helpful talent in there.
Getting a QB and some OL help was big. Would have liked to see some better talent at RB though

Melters, Barton on 247 put up a national article titled 'As Signing Day nears, biggest 'what-ifs' in recent memory' with "Auburn's insane LB corps that wasn't tops the list." We are good on LBs now, but for those that desire going below 32F:
quote:
There may be three first-round linebackers taken in the 2017 NFL Draft out of the SEC. None of them played at Auburn. All of them almost did.
Auburn was the first to offer Jarrad Davis out of south Georgia and the spring before his senior season the Tigers landed his commitment. But Florida and its hot shot assistant coach Dan Quinn capitalized on the firing of Gene Chizik, got Davis on campus for a December official visit and got him flipped. He signed in February with the Gators.
Losing one to Florida will happen. Losing one to Vanderbilt is harder to swallow. That's what happened with Pinson Valley (Ala.) High School's Zach Cunningham. The four-star recruit landed an Alabama grey-shirt offer in November. A couple of weeks later, Auburn offered him a full ride. But both were coming in behind James Franklin's Vanderbilt staff that had been working the lanky linebacker all fall. Cunningham named Auburn his leader in late January after taking official visits to Oregon and Auburn but the following weekend's trip to Nashville sealed the deal for Vanderbilt.
And then there was the infamous saga of Reuben Foster. First was the move from Georgia to Auburn High School in Alabama. There was the commitment and decommitment from Alabama. There was the commitment and decommitment from Auburn. There was the Auburn tattoo and a flurry of January official and unofficial visits. But it all ended with Alabama getting Foster's LOI. A few years later, the former No. 7 player in the 247Sports Composite became the best linebacker in college football.
As if a class of 2013 linebacking corps of Cunningham, Davis and Foster isn't scary enough, Auburn also missed out on Rashaan Evans one year later. The next in line at Alabama chose the Tide on national signing day despite a 95 percent 247Sports Crystal Ball pointing towards Auburn. Like Foster, he was a product of Auburn High School.

Its very disappointing to say the least. Just filling out the class with these extra bodies isn't going after quality. We have about 10 recruits that I like. That's 40% of the class.
I use the aggressive words for my haters.

Joke? we'll still finish top 15....and I don't know about y'all but if I had my choice between a full ride to Auburn and Stanford, I'd probably be headed out to Cali. If we get Johnson (which I somehow think we will), that'd be a crazy pull. That Stanford degree is worth a pretty penny.

Who cares. The top two or three teams has a recruiting class that is on a much higher level if not two levels higher. Bama's early enrollees alone would have been top ten. We wont be sniffing top ten.

So is an Auburn degree in a competitive field.

Judging by your anti-liberal rhetoric on some of your tweets, you'd probably be in for a culture shock.

There are a handful of niche programs where Auburn degree holds that type of value
For the 99% other programs on campus, an Auburn degree is just an avg state school degree that holds value only with alumni.
Considering an extremely large population of people have only heard of Auburn in relation to CFB, hard to say they assign value to a degree from there

I am just surprised we don't have more targets. It's like we narrowed down way to early and we aren't in it with hardly anyone near the end. No idea what Garner has been doing.

My point is that if he cared about his academics or his career, he need not travel all the way to Stanford. That is just ridiculous.

Just stop. This isn't a point that is even debatable.

Yeah I'd just have to suck it up for 4 years and then get the hell away from those soft arse snowflakes out there.

Because you know I am right. Stanford's degree carries more prestige, but the extra prestige isn't necessary to have a good career or even to do big things in the world.

The midcareer salary for an Auburn graduate is ~$85,000 while Stanford is ~$120,000
You can go to the University of Phoenix and have a good career or do big things in the world. So not sure why anyone would go to AU over UPhoenix when

Think of the two programs like recruiting. Stanford would be a 5 star recruit and Auburn would be a 3.5 star recruit. Sure, the Auburn student could still have a great career for attending a 3.5 star school, but it sure as hell would be a lot easier for that same student to attend the 5* school. Sure, 3* players can play in the NFL but numbers show 5* players are much more likely to make it in the NFL. There are a TON of successful Auburn grads, but for every successful big name Auburn grad (such as Tim Cook) there are probably 10 successful big named Stanford grads.

Top Targets
quote:
4* S Devon Hunter
4* WR Oliver Martin
4* DE Markaviest Bryant
4* DE Ryan Johnson
4* LB Tyler Taylor
4* OT Kai-Leon Herbert
3* TE John Samuel Shenker
We'll get
4* LB Tyler Taylor
4* DE Ryan Johnson
3* TE John Samuel Shenker
We'll also add an OT probably a 3*
The last spot is really the only big unknown right now. I agree with CPA, it seems we've narrowed down our pool of recruits to very few. Maybe we'll snag an unkown again like Daniel Thomas last year.

If he wants to go to Stanford and has inspirations to start up a company, go for it. Is that even what he wants to do?
If he wants an above average degree and an excellent student athlete experience, go to Auburn. There is a reason why Anfernee Mclemore chose Auburn over Brown and Yale.

Nope. Far to many lunatics out there.

so realistically best case scenario finish
LB Taylor
DE Ryan Johnson
TE Billy Ray Shoemaker
OL Padussy Padussy
Hell, I cant even get to 6 to even finish.

So there's our 3* OL to go with Ryan Johnson Tyler Taylor and Billy Ray SHenker.
That still leaves 2 spots with 0 targets
That still leaves 2 spots with 0 targets
