Pearl in his 6 years at Tennessee had 2 players make the NBA (Tobias Harris and CJ Watson). Yet we have 3 guys on our roster next year you say will play in the NBA?

Brown and Reed won't play in the NBA outside of maybe a summer league game.

Spencer won't play in the NBA either. I could see him making good money playing overseas though.

And we haven't seen Purifoy or Herron play at the college level yet, so to already be saying that they're NBA talents is ridiculous.

People have been championing for Purifoy so I could him (1) and Heron as a 5* has articles about when he'll go pro not if.

So the last one I'd suggest is Reed. He is very athletic for being 7' and has the bulk now. He'll make a bench with that alone. I doubt will be more than the human victory cigar

Has anybody else heard that Purifoy has grown and is now 6'8? I'm not sure I buy it but I've seen it posted a few places recently.

Height above 6'11" isn't as valued in the NBA as it was maybe 10 years ago. His height alone won't put him on a bench and I don't think he's athletic enough to make a roster so we'll see

He's very athletic for 7'. But he's a bean pole and needs some weight. I question his skill level, drive, and character though. I think he's athletic enough, but he's got a lot of work and development to do, both on the court and personally if he want to make it.

If he isn't as tall as Harris then he's close. They were standing side by side during the national anthem a game or two ago.

He's put on some weight. Looked a lot bigger to me at the A&M game.

Wouldn't be impossible. Not uncommon for people to continue growing until ~21/22. The Admiral David Robinson entered the Naval Academy at 6'8 left 7'1

He moves & runs extremely well for a 7' guy. Sometimes he looked slow because he was too stupid to know where to be then process that he should move there. When he runs the court and actually moved around he looked very athletic given 7'+ height

He isn't a Roy Hibbert type guy. He has the athleticism to move and being 250-260 LB will make a huge difference in the post too

He looked uncoordinated at times. He's 7'2" and was 18, how long do you think he'd been that size? He reminded me of a ~1 year old puppy that's already full grown but doesn't realize yet how big it is and is just awkward. A lot of big guys have that problem when they're still young. I thought it was obvious he had some athleticism though and he should be used to his body by now.

Obviously he's not going to be Anthony Davis athletic, but after 4 years of Rob Chubb I'll take Reed's athleticism at C until the end of time

His basketball IQ made him look even more uncordinated and awkward. That and his inability to catch a basketball.

Reed's hands are an actual concern for me.

I agree with you. Guys like Cousins, Towns and Davis are the exception rather than the rule. It takes the vast majority of guys with his size until their 3rd or 4th year to start showing development. He is 7'2 and moves very well which definitely puts him in the potential NBA category. He isn't there yet and I don't think you are saying he is but if he gains weight, his hand eye coordination comes around and he puts in the work he has everything needed to make an NBA roster.

I don't recall his hands being nearly the problem that Chubb's legendary hands were.

But yes, he needs a massive amount of improvement.

Even if his hands never come around, a body that big around the basket on the defensive end will be huge for us. Pearl has recruited plenty of scorers for us, and Wiley will be a freshman when Reed is a senior and AW has the ability to score in the post. So bad hands aren't the worst thing in the world right now.

They aren't great. Again, it is hard to tell since he never seemed to expect the ball anyways.

Not sure I heard right, but I think I heard Bruce say we were playing Oklahoma next year on Mike and Mike.
