Is it me or does coastal carolina setup for a super embarassing trap game?
Hell yes. Our fans think they are a cupcake because they have no knowledge of them and only read the team name. Our nonconference outside of Florida A&M has some teeth. NMSt. has Larry Rose at RB. CCU isn't well known but they win and of course TCU.
Coastal's coach is the former CEO of TD Ameritrade and has led them to 3 double digit win seasons in the past 5 years.
I'll go 7-5 until we have any idea what the defense, oline and abomination known as special teams looks like.
Giving 3 losses @Bama, Aub, @LSU.
Toss up games TCU, TAMU (we are way past due), @SCAR
Should win @OM, State, Mizzou
More comfortable Coastal
Easy Florida A&M, NMSt.

I'd like to be more optimistic, but I see too many question marks at key areas (RB, OL, WR, front 7/3-4 transition). Plus, to be frank, Bert has a losing record against every SEC coach on our schedule (excepting Matt Luke, whom he hasn't faced). I find myself wondering when this year's Rutgers, Toledo, Texas Tech, Louisiana Tech, Auburn or Mizzou will fall on the schedule. A few coaches have Bert's number, specifically Gus, Saban, Sumlin and Mullen.
Quite frankly, nothing between 4-8 and 9-3 would shock me.

Missing a bowl game would most definitely shock me. If we were able to go to a bowl with last year's team, I'm pretty confident we'll always make one under Bert.

10-2
Eta: should be 10-2 but will go 9-3 dropping one we shouldn't to either you, a&m, scar, mizzou or moo state.

Your prediction has gone up every time.
Don't worry I'm chugging too and I'm willing to say 9-3 right now but 8 wins is more likely.

Ive maintained 9-3 10-2. But I admit I'm chugging the kool aid. It honestly depends on if Bret beilama had figured out how to slow down a spread offense. If that day comes look out

The schedule sets up to nicely this year, and having a senior QB goes a long way in this league. TCU is down and at home, A&M is down, Ole Miss is a dumpster fire, and State could be ok but very winnable. I'm not sold on Auburn, plus their at home. 9 wins is completely attainable and should be Bert's expectation.

I believe so as well. If you can't get to 9 wins once in 6 years this place probably isn't for you

It seems we have a lot of doubters. They may be 100% right. I just see a team who knows their staff is on the hot seat. Our team likes our coaching staff. They want them to stay.
Last year there wasn't any expectations at WV. They won 10 games because they knew their staff would go unless they won some games. I think it's the same this year. You build the type of leadership you need off years like this.
I didn't have a single expectation going in. Now I honestly do. Last year was a down year and I should habe seen it. This year is building to next year.

I say 8-4, which I'd be alright with all things considered. We'll still have people in our fanbase losing their shite thinking and acting like "Bert's 5 years in, we shouldve won a natty dammit!" and others that see us for what we are, a mid-tier SEC team that's actually overachieving when looking realistically at our talent.
Somewhat bold prediction: a large chunk of mouth breathers (which tend to be the loudest) will legitimately want CBB fired in the middle of the season when we lose to TAMU again, but will be back on the bandwagon when we finish the last 5 games of the season 4-1.

Updated this morning.
Looks like reasonable expectations this year from most of us.
I think the key to this schedule is how we navigate the first three games and how we get out of those without many injuries. Getting to 4-0 heading into the back to back road weeks could be a key. TCU and aTm are very winnable games for this bunch. Bert just needs to buckle down and get shite done this year.

I'm leaning toward moving up from 6-6 to 7-5. I feel like we'll probably win one or two we probably shouldn't (LSU, Auburn), but we're also going to lose that dumb game as well (South Carolina, Mississippi State).
The ominous question looming is who is going to be our dumb scare game this year? Who's going to be our Samford, Toledo, or Louisiana Tech? Here's hoping we don't frick around and get into a nail biter with Coastal Carolina.
