NWA is still a nice place to live, but if I had to place a bet, I'd bet Fayetteville hits a steep decline soon.

They are building WAY too many apartments here now. Every shithole, crime-ridden apartment building was once the nicest, newest one in town.

In 20 years, there will be so much shitty real estate in this city that attracts crime and Section 8 it won't be tolerable.

Throw in people like Good Shepherd Lutheran, CanopyNWA, and the Marxist city government who are doing everything they can to bring in refugees, poor folks, and subsidized housing, and there's no stopping it.

Bentonville will only get nicer, though. Farmington seems like a decent town. There will still be a good balance of nice cities to live in, but Fayetteville's best days are definitely behind it. I say that as a homeowner here and second generation resident.

Fayetteville will be fine as long as the University is fine. I totally agree about all the shitty student housing and how those places will become dated and rundown very quickly. In addition, tons of places are just being bought as investment properties with absentee or infrequently visiting owners. This takes away from the vibrant downtown and makes it really hard to actually have students, artists, and service workers afford to actually live downtown.

My bigger concern for Fayetteville is the University and the fate of higher education in general. All that student housing is okay as long as the University is growing, but if the higher education bubble bursts.... all that student housing is going to become abandoned slums.

Apparently that is what many people will give up freedom for security. Indoctrination is very real and the best way for them is to corrupt the children.

Liberals aren't the problem but leftists that blend in with them that are causing all the trouble.

BLM/Antifa showed up at the Square in Bentonville a couple of years ago. My friend is a jailer for Benton County and he was with sheriff deputies in riot gear. It was ok for the first hour but they started throwing piss bottles at the deputies and in response shot tear gas at them. They were told to go home. Many of them had license plates from out of state.

Go to a restaurant.

1. Count the number of baws.
2. Count the number of skinny jeans, fedoras, and crazy hair styles.

If 2 outnumbers 1 pack your shite.

Fedoras? lol I just moved back to AR after a decade of living in NYC and I can't remember seeing anyone wearing a fedora

I do remember seeing some nerd wearing one on Dickson Street in 2010 or so

Just do what everyone else does and use your imagination.

If you cant get worked up enough to move your entire family over the thought someone eating in YOUR restaurant wearing pants that, get this, don't fit the same as yours, then you hate America.

Noncitizens legally living in Fayetteville can now apply to serve on advisory boards

It’s more things like that. It’s keep Fayetteville funky but I’m going to Starbucks for the logo on the cup instead of Arsagas and 7Brew. It’s the exploding property tax.

The whole ruining everything Fayetteville had built up culture wise.

So long as they are here legally, I don't have a problem with the non-citizen thing as it was originally presented: volunteer positions on advisory boards. They aren't elected positions and have only the power to make a recommendation.

Originally anyway.. what it gets turned into will no doubt be nice and corrupt.

If Matthew Petty gets elected as the next Mayor.....

No chance I'm ever moving back.

Petty moved on from politics. He resigned from the council and has moved on. Isn't planning on running for mayor to the best of my knowledge. He's become a pretty successful developer.

Honestly; they're also fairly rare in Fayetteville.

Hipsters aren't rare, but hipsters don't really wear skinny jeans anymore and have never worn fedoras... ever.

Stocking/watch caps on the other hand...
