For perspective, when Razorback Stadium was last expanded in 2000, the NWA metro had less than 350,000 people itself. In ten years, Fort Smith's metro will likely be at that level by itself. NWA will be closing in on 600k at least. Probably more, given recent trends.

Times have changed in this state. Little Rock used to be the center of everything. Its simply not the case anymore.

What part of the expansion plans do you not quite grasp?

Do Central Arkansas fans not attend games in BWA?

I'm glad we are keeping one game in Little Rock, but I wish Little Rock advocates would acknowledge that the U of A is basically doing them a favor at this point.

That and I know these people, I've attended LR games with them, which amounts to a drunk contest on the golf course and trying to not puke in the stands for the ones that actually make it into the stadium.

I have had only one take me up on the offer of a free place to stay, free ride from my house to the hill and back to attend a game in Fayetteville. The one that did was during the Kentucky game last year, and even with that experience he refuses to go to another WMS game, all since have been in Fayetteville.

Apparently not, we already know they don't attend games in Verizon.

The university tracks who is buying tickets to football games. I also have no doubt that the majority of season-ticket holders for football also live within an hour of Fayetteville.

Those numbers would be very interesting to see.

You're probably wrong

The last report I heard was 60% came from outside of NWA, I don't know if this is still accurate but it's from a reliable source.

It doesn't matter, the majority of central Arkansas People that attend Fayetteville games aren't going to quit going. Most of the people bitching don't go to games in Fayetteville anyway.

Out of the few counties, sure most likely, when you add in the valley?? Ft. Fresh is roughly an hour from the hill.

No, Central Arkansas area (Conway, LR, Benton, Bryant, Cabot, etc.) I'm not sure if it includes people as far north as Russelville

You have to remember that a lot of the wealthier people in NWA are from other states, whereas most of the wealthier people in central Arkansas were born and raised in Arkansas. It's changing with the growth of NWA, but people 40+ years old that choose to stay in Arkansas after graduation went to central Arkansas for higher paying jobs.

This is good, and the way it should be. As long as the U of Arkansas is playing football we should play once a year in LR.

I feel bad for the UGA fans rhough, because dawg fans are cool as shite IRL. On the rant they're all counts tho.

After living in Georgia for many years, I can assure you that they're terrible in real life as well. An absolutely terrible group of fans and we didn't even play them while I lived there so that's not what jaded me.

I'm talking the late 80s to mid 90s. Do you really think that the availability of 6 figure jobs wasn't far greater in central AR than NWA during that time frame?

In fact, as hard as it may be for you to believe, both the medium and mean family incomes in the central AR counties were higher than both Benton and Washington counties as recently as 2010.

I'm not linking every counties household data. You can find it yourself Here

You can also look Here for census data from 06-10.

I've only briefly skimmed the thread so I don't know, and it probably wasn't mentioned anyway since it's common knowledge to arkansas fans...

but what is the usual situation like for which games are in LR? Is it the biggest games? The crappy OOC games? The same game every other year?

I went to fayetteville in 09 and was blown away, awesome experience. I wasn't going to go back next year just due to expense, but now that it's in LR I guess I will just to put another notch in my stadium belt.

Since Arkansas started a 2 game Little Rock schedule it's been one OOC and one conference game.

On years when Arkansas played ULM it was always a Little Rock game. In years when these two didn't play it was generally a rent a win OOC team.

Up until it was played in Fayetteville in 2012, LSU was a Little Rock game in even years and Mississippi State was a Little Rock game in odd years.

Don't expect to have an amazing experience in Little Rock. Tailgating can be ok but the stadium is a dump. I would expect a good atmosphere for Georgia though. The crowd is usually good for upper tier games.

I'd think the Georgia game is going to be pretty fun. I agree, the WMS crowd does show up for upper tier games - especially if we are fielding a decent team.
