It's stupid. It doesn't represent Fayetteville. It is redneck, hokey, and retarded.
Yes, I think the results speak for themselves. When something's not working, you got to try something different and this is the first thing I would change.
Ate there a few years ago after hearing about it so much in these recruiting threads and was very underwhelmed.
Hamburg has better catfish.

It may work for some. That's what a good recruiter does is tailor the experience to the player. Anybody that's ever sat down and talked recruiting with Barry Switzer would be amazed at the legal lengths he went to in order to form a connection with players. Of course, he doesn't deny boosters helped.

Sorry but an 18 year old from a poor upbringing could give a shite about a nice risotto.
Yes, we need to cater to poor kids, and surround them by poor things. That's why we make locker rooms and training facilities bare-bones and don't ever try any bling in uniforms.
Kids like NICE stuff. Take them to nice places. Fayetteville has several.

I would like to see more of this and less of a cookie cutter approach. We need more money for recruiting. If we ever hope to compete we need a budget the size of Tennessees budget.

100% agree. Fayetteville isn't even Southern.
And their hushpuppies are garbage anyway.

Slow your roll kiddo, its fun, but not unique.

I gave my local fayetteville unique restaurant as well. It could be like the catfish hole with a better selection and quality food.

Doesn't mean their good at it. We obviously have deficiencies and I don't think they give a shite about our suggestions anyway, but it helps us kill time.

Your pathetic jealousy of all things Fayetteville and NWA is noted...again.

Catfish Hole sucks and is an Alma, Arkansas thing. Might as well take them to Waffle House.

They serve steaks to the recruits along with the other stuff they make.

Apparently some of the kids like it. Alex Collins worked there and hung out there some when he wasn't working
AC, God bless him, loved everything about the area. Hard to think of a recruit, especially one from outside the area, who enjoyed NW Arkansas more then AC did while he was here.

not unique
Holy hell....
Even without a flagship university, Fayetteville's topography and setting make it unique. You don't find a lot of cities deliberately built into the hills like this one is. There is plenty of flat land nearby, but the founders chose to set the city in the hills to take advantage of the views. The views of the mountains are the very reason the university was placed on the old McElroy farm.
Aside from that, Fayetteville is a really unique town full of cool restaurants and cool shops. I'm afraid it gets a little less unique every year with more idiot assholes (sort of like PF) moving into town, clamoring for shite like Captain D's and Steak & Shakes.
Catfish Hole (even the name is terrible) isn't unique. It's a place I'd expect to find on a roadside in rural Saline County or somewhere. Maybe that's why certain folks are prone to defend it.

If you're wanting to go for laid back atmosphere, at least take them to somewhere with college aged kids. I was in fville for 5 years and never even considered going to the damn Catfish Hole. I assume its full of neckbeards, fat people on scooters, and grease. Zero coeds.
If you want atmosphere, any of these would be so much better.
Sassy's
Grubbs (not sure it has the right layout)
JJs on Dickon(when it opens)

Midwestern feel all the way. Carpet baggers and midwesterners alike have flocked to the area and forever changed that corner of the state.

i feel pretty safe in saying while the catfish hole is pretty shitty. The food is miles ahead of grubs. now if we can get the recruits liquored up it is the perfect establishment that i'm sure several recruits will frequent soon after they sign.
