Are you crazy?

It is much more complicated at the college level than it is at high school.

We need the best athletes on the field at all times. I wouldn't mind if Brown was even a kickoff/punt team guy and 2nd string safety. That would make us better this year and Brown would be more ready to step up into a bigger role next year.

Is anyone else still really worried about the defense? I know change from a bad thing is always exciting but I still remember a few years ago when we as a fanbase were collectively gnashing our teeth for a DC that would bring a 4-3 back to Arkansas because we kept getting gashed in the 3-4. I know not all DC's are created equal and the 3-4 can work, I just need to see it on the field first.

Absolutely I am worried about the defense.

I'm starting to lean more to 8-4 than 9-3 because of it.

The truth is we still don't have the depth at inside linebacker.

Outside we have 2-3 guys with the body type there. Randy Ramsey fits the razor perfect. Bell is the type of body we want at hog. He is hurt. We just arent there yet. Next year we will be a lot better. We are going to have to make a living off Austin. We need another 2 recruiting classes to be where we need to be at LB types and depth.

Yes we really need to focus on the defensive side of the ball recruiting

My worry isn't even with recruiting. It's whether or not the 3-4 will even improve anything.

I think it will to some degree. The thing I think it helps with is our offense getting used to that style of defense.

It also fits our line men personnel much better at this moment. Briston guidry is the only guy I think that was a true 4-3 DT. This transition might not truly help him, but the rest it helps.

Look, I am not too worried about it actually.. I mean realistically, how could it be worse.

If it doesn't improve just a bit, then I will be furious. But what we had last year was a lack of simple fundamentals, lack of attention to the small details and by the end of the year it was a hapless, helpless group of kids with no leader.

I don't expect overnight miracles by any stretch of the imagination. However I do believe we will be at least two games better. If the offense is the same. If the offense is better, I see 8-9 wins.

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas head football coach Bret Bielema, offensive coordinator Dan Enos and defensive coordinator Paul Rhoads made one thing clear at their press conferences on Wednesday. Youth will be served on this year’s Razorback football team. Bielema said expect to see these true freshmen get time on offense: tailback Chase Hayden (5-10, 191), lineman Ty Clary (6-4, 286) and wide receiver Koilan Jackson (6-2, 214), as well as junior college tight end Jeremy Patton (6-5, 250). Freshmen defenders likely to get on the field early are linebacker Hayden Henry (6-1, 209), cornerbacks Kamron Curl (6-1, 193) and Chevin Calloway (5-10, 188), along with junior college linebacker Gabe Richardson (6-3, 239).

Recruiting has sucked IMO.

frick Chaney, Pittman, Segrest, Shannon

In year 5 of fatass, we're still having to play freshman on the back end.

I get that Bob left Bert nothing on defense.

I get that Bert is in way over his head in tSEC west.

The Wisky bullshite of, I can't keep assistant coaches because of $$$$, You have the $$$$ fatass.

You have 2 years Bert, get it figured out or head back north.

We should have won 9 games last year. With one of the worst o lines all time and no defense. I think we will play better though.

Our success on offense boils down to if Whaley is the real deal or not. If he's a significant step down from RWIII we're in serious trouble. We absolutely cannot afford a one-dimensional offense this year.

I disagree. Whaley will not be a step down overall but he isn't as much a bruiser. Hayden will aid more than most realize.

Together they will be more than sufficient. Just my opinion on what I have read, and watched. Hayden is a fast, fast, fast and slippery dude. Did I mention fast?

I don't lay it all at the feet of Bert.

We all thought Mike Smith was a great DC following one season that was an anomaly rather than the norm. He was terrible.

Yes, CBB hired him, but dang. It was terrible. There is no way our Offense with our Line following Pittmans terrible recruiting could protect Austin any better.

I hope CBB gets it corrected, we shall see

Bert has 2 years to right the ship.
I'm starting to lose confidence that he has the knowledge to compete in the west.

I understand that we are not even near what we could be capable of ... possibly, but I do have a few things on my mind.

Who is actually competing in the west. Auburn? no... TAMU... no... LSU... not yet... Ole Miss lol, Miss State... no...

So, really only Bama competes over all. I mean LSU over the past 4 years isn't that great. Neither is Auburn or the others. Look at the lack of coaches in the SEC at present time. Nobody wants to come to the SEC and have to face Saban.

Mullins is a good coach, but horrible recruiter. He may be one of the better coaches left. Malzahn is a joke, O is as well, freeze is gone.. I mean it is terrible.

So, who do you suppose we would get that LSU, Tenner, Georgia etal couldn't. They settled for sure.

And I am not thinking we are "Little ole Arkansas" it just is what it is. What is left that would come here and do much better?

Not that it matters, as you said, he is here 2-3 more years regardless.

I didn't call them a step down, I just said if. Point is we HAVE to have a decent running game this year. It's so vital to our offense.

Disagreeing that it has to be Whaley, Hayden and Whaley and Williams will do it together. That's all..
