Our success on offense boils down to if Whaley is the real deal or not. If he's a significant step down from RWIII we're in serious trouble. We absolutely cannot afford a one-dimensional offense this year.

Won't matter if the OL doesn't improve

If Whaley is shifty it's gonna keep defenses on their heels much more, correct? No more plowing into a hole to ram Williams 1 on 1 and if he's not there heading on in to the quarterback? Is that less of a deal then I'm trying to make it?

Whaley does, in my opinion, have homerun speed. He is faster than collins was.

When we were recruiting RB's that year Whaley was the one i wanted more than any other back. He had the best combination of power and speed of all of them.

Is Whaley elite in any one thing? No. But he is great in almost every phase. He has power, he has speed, he has size, and He is a down hill runner. Is he incredibly shifty? No. He has some moves though. Like Bret said. He thought Whaley had the best full speed jump cut he had seen in his career. The guy isn't stiff, but I think he has the speed if you give him a crease he will take it to the house, or is big enough to run or stiff arm the safety to the ground. They do not want to be 1v1 against him. They will lose that fight. I do think he would like to run straight as possible though, but he doesn't have to.

Whaley is a 3 down back, who has an elite combination of power and speed, but not exactly elite in either. I hope that makes sense.

Yep, makes sense. Appreciate the write up.

Can't wait to watch him as the number 1.

This just sounds like more preseason bert smoke. No way he's got a better cut than AC3 had.

Go watch his freshman highlight and he multiple times will he running full speed and just jump left or right, and leave the defender flat on the ground.

Collins did habe some moves though. We will see what Whaley is all about as the premier back this year.

Overall, probably not. But it seemed like AC3's best cuts were those quick, choppy ones at the line that would get us a couple extra yards when it seemed like we'd be stuffed. I don't remember him doing a ton of cuts at full speed. That being said, AC3 did have some ridiculous cutting ability.

Already starting to prep the media on why this season will be bad

I get your point here, that's why I believe Fat arse is here until at least 2019.

I don't expect to win 10 or 11 every year, I've been a Hog fan too long for that.

Just be competitive for God's sake.

Is that too much to ask out of a coach going into his 5th year.

I rewatched highlights from the 2015 LSU game when Arkansas won in death valley. Collins made a cut at the LOS on his long touchdown run that was unreal. The LSU player is still looking for his shoes. Dude had some amazing footwork.

I agree with everything you said but I'm hoping this year he turns the corner. I think his first few years he was over his head and really didn't understand the difference between big 10 and sec football. I'm hoping now he's been humbled some that he can start making some moves

2013: we just fricking sucked

2014: really the only problem in 2014 is we ran into alabama who we should have beaten, Dak on a loaded miss state team, and underrated georgia squad. we blew that a and m game tho

2015: we blew toledo

really the only thing I fault bert for, is for hiring chaney, pittman and smith. i have no problem with his actual coaching. chaney can't coach for shite, pittman stopped recruiting and smith well is smith

Either he has the worst luck of any coach ever or his preparation is lacking because it seems like every year we've got at least 1 game we should've won easily and we lose or it becomes a dogfight. (Toledo, la tech, samford) idc if you don't think we have equal talent to other sec teams we have much better players than those teams. Also we've lost a ton of close games with beilama so his in game management has a little to be desired

Does the team practice today (Thurs, 17th), and if they do is it open to the public?

Thanks

Every Hog fan including me is hoping for this. Maybe this is his year to get to 9 wins and set up 2018 for 10-11. We all know he had 9 wins last year, but shite the bed in 3 games.

I'm excited about the upcoming season but reserved in a way also.
