I know right.

I mean "zone safeties"? How in the hell could I make shite like that up. I must be drinking.

Everyone knows "zone safeties" have never existed. Or brackets and zone/man combos. What have I been smoking?

I can't imagine how in the hell Nick Saban would have hired John Thompson before they had a falling out, since Thompson ran all that cray-cray made up "combo" "bracket" voodoo

I guess Saban just figured, oh well, might as well hire this guy from the Memphis Tigers and find out what his schemes are later

Probably those zone safeties in your 4-4 defense…

No car sales experience…but maybe we could run two zone safeties out in your cover 1 defense and get it covered.

I am shocked how many people in our fanbase still don’t fully trust KJ. Zero concerns on offense for me. KJ can run at will against 10/11 remaining teams.

Defense needs some work but it was only game 1

I wish Briles trusted his arm more sometimes.

I’d like to see KJ taking about half as many hits. Run guys over when it’s a key moment but he needs to start sliding some

I’m with you on that one. I just don’t see it. We need KJ getting 75+ on the ground to win big games.

I don’t necessarily want him to run less. Just sacrifice the extra 4 yards sometimes and avoid the hit

He will do it if he is running to the edge…but if he is in the middle of the field that dude loves some damn contact. Which gets you excited and will make you fist pump in the moment…but then you sit down and are like, hey you need to just slide bro…

check out our beautiful called run with KJ at the 1:43 mark.

Arkansas/Cincy

Briles only ran this a few times, and I imagine was conservative with it on purpose. We can drill the crap out of people with it later on, with KJ, Malik, or a running back taking the snap.

quads right and a WR left, basically a no-back but Trey is actually in an H-back slot so he can be the 6th blocker against what is arguably only 5.5 defenders in the box, i.e., gaining the extra blocker and allowing KJ to run roughshod. Same thing Cam Newton killed the world with in 2010 at Auburn.

Later on v Cincy we also had one play where the Cincy secondary was overmatched with 2 DB's trying to bracket 3 Hog receivers on one side. I'm guessing we got that mismatch because they cheated inside expecting more KJ Wildcat. We can expect to see some checks to hitch screen on that later on I'm guessing. aka, the direct snap called run "Wildcat" will set some teams up for some big hitch screen success later on.

We were tied against 4–8 Rice last year going into the fourth quarter. Down by two scores in the third. And last year ended up being worlds better than we thought it'd be. After the kind of season openers we've had the past decade, I'm beaming after this one.

The improvement last year from week 1 to week 2 was impressive. Hoping we can replicate that this year.

Carolina brings a little bit different mix to the table on offense…but their defense looked pretty rough against Georgia State.

Also if not for 2 blocked punts returned for touchdowns in the 2nd half, USCe only wins that game by a touchdown.

Malik

I'm hoping he gets way more involved in the offense. He needs the ball in his hands.

I'm not meaning to get this thread side tracked, but Yurachek has hired Pittman, Muss, and Deifel. Does Yurachek have a wheelbarrow that he totes his nads around in as he's walking? It's amazing what happens when you hire a good fit vs. hiring someone to win the press conference.

Love all this high school hero infighting.

Good signal we’re sort of back.
