I'm nervous about how we'll do in the SECCG. I fear we might be a little over confident heading in.

What a strange question from a hog fan. Yes, it will matter.

After the season is over, of course it will matter what QB we played. As far as pres-seasson predictions are concerned, would you predict a higher win total with Allen at QB as opposed to Townes? We have really bought into Enos as someone who can develop QB, so, since we are happy with the talent at QB, we can't expect anything less than average at that position.

We beat tenner this season they shouldn't be a problem but hopefully we buckle down and beat them.

Not implausible, but unlikely. I'd assume we see the D take a big step forward, especially with an improved pass rush and lb depth. Running game should be descent, especially if the new oline components mesh quickly and conservative but solid qb play keep defenses from selling out to stop the run. The WR corps will be the best we've had since '11.

Looks like a solid football team.

I'm probably crazy because I think we can beat TCU.

They've been a notoriously slow starting team. So many come from behind wins this season.

We've typically been a really good first half team and our style to grind it out and shorten the game really limits TCU's ability to come back scoring points in bunches.

Oh and TCU is the legit national champion title holder, So our game w/ TCU will be a Legit Title Match since their first game is against a FCS opponent, and those games are non-title matches.

I don't think its crazy. Their defense is trash and they lose Boykin (and Kohlhausen) and Doctson.

If our line gels and one of the QBs steps up, I could see our offense giving them fits with our physicality. However, I'm in wait and see mode until I see whether our defense has a pulse, and we're historically horrendous against spread offenses.

If this improves I think it fixes so many of the problems we had this year. If you can't get to the QB it really doesn't matter how good the secondary plays.

argument for 10 wins:
3 wins from the nobodys assuming we take care of business
1 win from TCU assuming defense improves and offense doesn't drop off the face of the earth.

Ole Miss is rebuilding
Auburn is a dumpster fire
Gators seem like they really need a good QB to not be terrible and their pro style attack will match up well with our defense.
Mizzou will be breaking in a new coach
We get LSU at home
State lost their entire offense(dak)

Bama will give us a good game but they will lose several key players to the draft we might catch them before they gel.
Texas AM is a dumpster fire.

There you have it we're officially undefeated.

Not bad, but one could argue that we're also rebuilding on offense, especially if Collins declares (which I expect). Also, a few things going against us are the fact that Kelly is coming back for Ole Miss (?), and the staff still can't figure out how to beat A&M, or State for that matter.

A few things are going to have to happen for us to win 10 (I'm including a bowl game):

- staff figures out how to not come out of the gate sluggish
- we finally find a way to hold a lead against A&M
- we take advantage of opportunities to beat down teams and/or teams still searching for a QB like Auburn, Florida, State, and possibly Bama.
- we take advantage of the fact that despite both Ole Miss and LSU being out for blood, we get them both at home.
- at least one of the QBs takes full advantage of a year in the system (or 3 in Austin's case) and nearly a year and a half of development under Enos.
- Walker returns, RW3 comes back in full force, and Whaley ends up signing.
- OL gels, and fast
- defense steps up in a big way with another year of experience, and the redshirts emerge.

This was out biggest issue IMO. We could not generate any kind of pass rush whatsoever this year. Folks were able to just sit back and pick is a part because of it.

That absolutely has to be corrected before this defense will improve. Wise took big steps at the end of the year but we need some other folks to step up too. Hopefully Agim comes in ready to roll and can help out there.

But they lose their entire offensive line and record setting receiver.

how to beat A&M

A&M lost a ton of talent this year. This will entirely depend on us not being injured and getting a slow start.

or State

They lost their superstar QB and WR. The rest of their offense was pretty manageable.

Wise needs to step up in a huge way and we need agim to come right in and generate some kind of rush.

Pass rush is the most important part of any defense. The games we were successful in we found a semblance of one at least a few times. The games we lost we had 0 pass rush.

This is what a good pass rush can do for you:
it can throw off timing of the spread offenses.
Stop a long pass play before it gets started.
force a qb into making a bad decision.
Cause bad throws.
Get inside the QBs head.
Stop a run in the backfield instead of a 1 or 2 yd gain.

I won't make any promises about that defense but somebody on the Hill knows what the hell they're doing on offense. ESPN has their own computer rankings and offensive/defensive efficiency rankings. You should check them out sometimes. Arkansas had the number one ranked offense by a wide margin according to their metrics. Pretty amazing

This was the most dominant offense I've seen at Arkansas. We finally were balanced like so many of our coaches have tried to do in the past. It's just a shame they didn't get in their groove until the last 8 games. It's also crazy they looked so good with all the injuries.
