Also, this would not be made public, unless it was to gauge the reactions of the fans, etc.

this going public says quite a bit...

Long going to contract negotiations also makes the timing seem funny.

If true, yes... Jeff did much better with the contract than we imagined. However, he still hired Bert

I don't blame him a bit for that one. We got an established head coach who had been to multiple BCS games in a major conference. Felt like a coup at the time.

Story originated with the Democrat-Gazette...as good a source as any. It’s happening.

Apparently so since this is breaking news. Or did you already know about this and just didn't tell anybody?

Good, buy him out. He is among the worst coaches in school history.

No doubt this story was leaked by Long or a high level board member. It accomplished 2 things... 1 it takes ALL the media pressure off long (for now) and makes all tbe talk of "no way he's fired because of the buyout" talk become irrelevant. It also let's all the big money boosters know that the checks they will cut is Way less now.

It's a win win for all.... Well except for Bert... He's properly fricked now...

This explains why several of us have heard that the buyout isn't/wasn't an issue all along.

Asked my buddy about it and he says it's true and that "somebody that shouldn't have" is responsible for bringing this to the media's attention. The context of the convo leads me to believe that it's Long or one of his associates that purposely put this out there, I'm guessing to take pressure off him and apply it to CBB.

Regardless he said that there's a LOT of buzz about this in NWA right now. Bert's seat couldnt possibly be hotter.

also makes all those rumblings of sources about having 11 to 15 million to pay seem like bullshite....

Ive only ever heard that the buyout 100% isn't an issue and that there's people willing to take care of it, the $11-15mm figure was always assumed on my end since it was "public knowledge." I would assume the same to be true with most anyone with a legitimate source. It's still true that it can be paid out over 5 years and offsets.

Like I said earlier this week, if we get trounced the next two weeks, he could easily be fired and have Enos finish the season.

The formula was carried over from his initial contract and this new amount will be negotiated by by sides.

5.9 is an achievable number, but could only be had with negotiations. Most schools normally get the raw end of the deal because they want the problem to go away and it allows them to move onto a new era.

I dont read good enough to know one way or the other. legalese isn't my forte. if it was a cryptocurrency smart contract I could tell you for sure but alas it's pen paper and dollar bills

Enos is a good tactical coach but Rhoads will do a better job of lighting a fire under the players' asses. He's a motivator and for an interim, you want a motivator.

Then LSU can hire him to replace Ed O.

What's your point? Ed O was a good interim. He was not a good long term option.

Until the UA confirms, then I'll be hesitant to believe. If this is true though.....then let's get this party started.

I'm hopeful that - and wonder if - Long or one of his people planted this story to quell the uprising of the fan base.

Supposedly if Long is staying, there's a small contingent on the BOT that don't want Long to make the new hire

That is understandable and a fear of mine. It could turn out well though. I'm not 100% either way.

This... and that contingent has grown since the end of last season.
