Bert's buyout not $15M after all

Bielema’s actual buyout is determined by a formula included within the language of his original deal, which was made effective Dec. 4, 2012, and signed the next August.
It uses the $15.4 million figure as a numerator and divides that by the total number of months (97) in the full term of his contract. That figure of $158,762.88, called the “monthly value of the total guaranty payment,” would then be multiplied by the remaining number of months on the contract, which runs through Dec. 31, 2020.
Based on that equation, Arkansas would owe Bielema about $5.874 million to terminate his contract after the season concludes Nov. 24, plus a prorated amount for any partial months of employment.

Until the UA confirms, then I'll be hesitant to believe. If this is true though.....then let's get this party started.

I agree. It seems too good to be true.

if true we definitely keep long. also makes all those rumblings of sources about having 11 to 15 million to pay seem like bullshite....

The UA won't confirm it until he's fired.
The language would be the similar to a guaranteed pro deal where a player has a 50 mil contract with 10 mil guaranteed according to the article, he isn't owed 50 if he's cut, but could earn 50 if he lives up to the reason for the contract, and 50 mil sounds huge in the media.

Excellent legalese in that contract.

No shite. I wonder if that language was just to scare away teams from inquiring about Bret but, in reality, was just a fraction of what would actually need to be paid if we wanted out. Best of both worlds.
If so...Long, my man.

So you’re saying Jeff Long is a genius?

The donors were going off the same reported contract details as everyone else. This is new information.

All this to show why you don’t hire a coach to do a business mans job.

If that's true, Jeff Long is a wizard.

Dan wolken is trying to refute this on Bo's Twitter.

I read one of the contracts in its entirety, however I am not an attorney and some of it just flew right by me.
The one I read, seemed like it would be 15 million until Jan and a bit under 12 mil then.. down to a little less than 8 mill the next year.
If true, yes... Jeff did much better with the contract than we imagined. However, he still hired Bert, JLS, etc.
But, if true... jeff wont be going anywhere.
