And they should never be married in a church or by a pastor/minister since it's not a union blessed by God.

this is hardly a unanimous opinion across the denominations, and should be a decision left to each congregation, similar to how the episcopals have been operating, no?

Agree with what was said above....

and to the one right above, I view it as wrong period, considering biblical principle. I do know that it caused a major split within the Presbys and Episcs...

and now even some Methodists as well

I was stating my opinion, but it is also the opinion of the vast majority of not only denominations but religions. And at least two thirds of the Anglicans (which includes Episcopal) share my opinion.

to keep a bad thread going...

and now it starts, opinion shared briefly and seemingly innocuous.

Gets a reprimand...

It's getting to the point where the majority's opinion doesn't matter.
The voters opinion doesn't matter.
The constitution doesn't matter.

'Regnat Populus' has long since been trashed.

Whose beliefs are you talking about if not your own? Are you just trying to play devil's advocate?

This matters above all else that you posted, much to your chagrin. The purpose of the Bill of Rights is to protect minorities from the tyranny of the majority. For the sake of the same-sex Arkansas couples married on May 10th, the days after, and who will become married in the future, I am grateful for the Bill of Rights.

The haters can eat a bag of hell.

This is my opinion. The most logical thing to do is have civil unions recognized by government entities (whether they be gay couples or straight couples) and let people stand before their own church to be wed (if they so choose) Churches should then have the right to refuse or grant marriage ceremonies based on their doctrine.

its such a simple solution.

i think its difficult for some christians to realize that not everyone defines marriage through religious terms, with a ceremony and a priest and sacred vows, etc...

really, what difference does it make? non-believers and members of other faiths have been getting married for ever as well, and it hasnt been an issue. an atheist and a homosexual share the same risk of going to hell, so why the importance on gay marriage?

non-believers dont care what the Bible defines marriage as, and state-recognized marriage is a very different matter altogether.

If you can't see that our constitutional rights are slowly, quietly being taken away, you are blind my friend. I'm talking the constitution as a whole.

If you look back at my posts, you will see that I'm all for them getting whatever tax breaks real married couples have. I am not discriminating against them in any way. I just believe their lifestyle is a sin (not to mention gross), and it's okay if they think mine is gross too. But don't try to force me to think otherwise.
