The current jerseys are from the NFL template, why Petrino thought recruits would buy into that is beyond me unless they also realized they would only be wearing that style jersey on Saturdays instead of Sundays too playing in his system...

Yeah because watching games on tv tells you everything about how the designs are negotiated
Do you know literally anything about how business is conducted?

Yep, and like in football, Nike offers select programs/schools the option if they so choose, to wear the latest and greatest as a trial type preview of Nike's latest gear.

Just like the Nike Pro Combats in football that select schools got to wear for 3 seasons, before Pro Combat was available to all schools.

Nike Elite is the basketball version, with a few select teams and programs being able to preview what will be available probably next year or year after to every school.

Yet above it is stated

Bielema has said multiple times we're gonna ride these jerseys out through the contract which ends after this season and then we're gonna go for a more traditional look

Well gosh! Why the hell are we "riding anything out" if Nike only does what we want???

The theory behind the jersey is good but the execution was a little lacking.

If it was me, I would have made the "bolt" red as well as the sleeve. That way it would have looked more like the back of a Razorback as opposed to a replica of the Chargers lightning bolt.

Make the sleeve caps all red with the other changes they made in the offseason and you would have a pretty good looking uniform.

Because we were contractually obligated to wear this template for a period of time.

That contract expires after this season.

We're the bitch in our relationship with Nike. Too late to try to regain respect. This is our uniform walk of shame. Our athletic department and dumbass fanbase has no self respect.

Yes. In particular, I know Nike is a bulldog for doing anything for publicity, schools be damned. No publicity is bad publicity.

See this article for evidence on just how controlling Nike is over its "clients"

I'm here if you need further explanation

I wouldn't mind the charger looking crap if it was red. I imagine it would look a lot better. but the silver grey stuff has gotta go

Oh so you don't think we can be contractually obligated into wearing other shite we don't necessarily approve??

It is currently happening

I'm at a loss for words. That was the design Petrino wanted and we got it. Bielema got here in fricking December. Could it be that he figured he should focus on more important things like hiring a staff and getting to know his team and recruiting before worrying about scheduling meetings with Nike to completely renegotiate the contract and completely overhaul the uniform design? Are you even capable of critical thinking?

Nike doesn't force anything on us unless we choose to order out of their stock catalog. The school 100% signs off on any and all changes that Nike makes and is heavily involved in the design process.

They try to change Bama's uni for every GOTC and bowl game they play in! Bama concedes one stitch and they are labeled "Pro combat". Bama calls the shots because they have tradtion that they stick by. Why am I surprised our fanbase doesn't understand what that means?? smh...

frick all of you mother frickers for making my god damn basketball thread about football.

DIAF.

I wonder IF Nike Elite means our current home/away jerseys are the same and we just have a grey alternate jersey we wear sometimes, likely on TV games?

Doesn't KY and UF and Cuse all have their standard home and road jerseys then the grey alt?

I don't think our standard home/away jerseys are changing.

You obviously have zero clue how the design process works for making these uniforms.

His response was too the fans who found Nike's black out replica jerseys and thought bama would actually wear those.

However, Nike has made small changes to the design of Bama, SC, OU, LSU, Ole Miss, Georgia, and Penn States unis, they are subtle and not as noticeable as switching to a completely new template.

However, New Era makes Yankees caps in red, blue, green, black, plaid, orange, yellow, etc.

Do you expect the Yankees to wear matching unis to the hat color or do you recognize it is fashion styled apparel that has no bearing to what is used on the field?

Bama fans couldn't tell the difference...

Yes. The grey alts may not even be a yearly thing.

That's what I thought, so we'll like have the same white/red uniforms we've had for years now, and then have an alt Elite grey uniform we'll wear on every so often.
